It talks about how his tragic life lead to very successful pieces of art. His personality and health problems made it hard for him to really be a part of society. After he figured out preaching was not the right profession, he turned to painting. Van Gogh had a strong passion for painting although he was barely recognized in his lifetime for his beautiful art work. His closest friend in life was his brother, Theo. He wrote Theo quite frequently dealing with his aspirations and conflicts. In the end Theo got married and Van Gogh committed suicide.

This encyclopedia source is able to provide much needed information on the background of Van Gogh. It gives great detail on the life of Van Gogh. The source also provides past artistic works of his. When writing this paper on Van Gogh and the postimpressionism era I will need to know about Van Gogh and his life. Also his relation to the artistic movement.

The encyclopedia is a great place to start when trying to gain more knowledge about anything. The description they give about postimpressionism is both helpful and informative. This artistic style was used by Van Gogh. The movement took place during the last two decades of the 19th century.

Web. 17 Nov. 2010. this encyclopedia entry covers the basics of René Magritte's life and what the basis of his paintings were. This provides me with few details that i am going to use to describe some of his paintings in my other book sources.

This is a short encyclopedia entry. It tells you the basic facts about Roy Liechtenstein, and is a good starting point for a paper. Its says that he was a "master of pop art," and based his art off of comic strips. He had very different styles of art through the different decades. In the 70's he concentrated on reinterpretations of well-known paintings. In the 80's and 90's he he focused on brush strokes and painting on large canvases.

It explains his part of his background that molded his overall reputation as an artist. It also helps the reader to understand his unique personality.

This is not a citable scholarly source, but an article listing other sources of information about hip-hop, making it a good find for those researching the topic. The biography includes how he is the founder of Impressionism. Also it includes who inspired monet and how he got into art. It goes on to describe his works throughout his lifetime.
