The viewpoint is that through Van Gogh's letters it is easy to see that he was trained to be creative. The article also outlines Van Gogh's life and creativity. Van Gogh's artwork is very creative, but in some of his works it is east to see where he repeats his creativity. Arnold, Wilfred Niels. "The Illness of Vincent van Gogh." Journal of the History of the Neurosciences 13.1 (2004): 22-43. Academic Search Complete. EBSCO. Web. 16 Nov. 2010. This article focuses on his Illnesses and lack of mental stability. His creativity level was off the charts, and in the end effected his mental health. His creativity was partially due to his intake of absinthe. I also learned that in 1882, Vincent entered the hospital due to a gonorrheal infection. His mental problems started to occur when he was in his 30's. I really like this article because it gives an outline of all of Van Gogh's health problems and the time period in which they occurred.

Andreae, Christopher. "Van Gogh's fervent flowers." Christian Science Monitor 18 Aug. 1999: 18. Academic Search Complete. EBSCO. Web. 18 Nov. 2010. Van Gogh painted his Irises while staying at the insane asylum in Arles. One reason Van Gogh sticks out from other artist is the fact that he paints the world the way he sees it. His creative imagination shines through in his paintings. He painted the Irises during the final years of his life. This article will help me in writing my paper due to the fact that I can compare his Irises to some of his earlier work.

This review highlights the "high pitch" of the Surrealist movement in the 1930s and the 1940s. It incorporates multiple Surrealist artists, especially Salvador Dali. The author talks about the Surrealist exhibitions and their unique value that were considered to be "ideological spaces." It states that Dali was well-known artist, but eventually he became obsessed with commercialism. At this time period, society was based on consumerism and media advertisement that Dali got caught up in leading to his downfall.
