This article is about how the Pre-Raphaelite school of painting challenged Victorian notions of beauty. Their depictions of reality as it was ran contrary to their contemporaries ideals, which strived for perfection. The Pre-Raphaelites showed their subjects with accurately-colored skin and irregularly-shaped heads, as all human heads are. They were on the forefront of what would come to be acceptable; phrenology and the idea that you could judge an individual by his or her appearance were gaining in popularity.

A brief history of the city is included, which is helpful in understanding Art Deco's roots. This article looks at Art Deco from a movie and photography point of view. It describes the best places and times to truly capture the beauty and originality of Art Deco

This article focuses on critics of pop art and Andy Warhol.  One critic is quoted saying, "You're a killer of art, you're a killer of beauty, and you're even a killer of laughter".  Warhol was not concerned with how he looked to others; he only cared about his work portraying what he saw important.  It also talks about the assassination attempt on Warhol.

Arthur Danto sees Andy Warhol as the "Artist of the second half of the 20th century," and the "artist laureate of the American soul." He describes how Andy Warhol drew/painted many symbols of post war America and describes Andy Warhol's work in two levels: "the level of fears and agonies, and the level of beauties. The level of plane crashes, suicides, accidents, executions; and the level of Marilyn, Liz, Jackie, Elvis, Jesus, radiant with glamor and celebrity." Warhol moved from commercial art to pop art. Danto explains how Warhol's art relieved anxiety in American society and culture."He was moved by the same things that his audience was moved by," states Danto.

This book, written by Andy Warhol himself, describes his life from beginning to end. Chapter one begins with his childhood, and younger years. Chapter two and three continue through his young adult years, portraying his interest in romance and love. Chapter four focuses on his emphasis on beauty. Chapter five begins to talk about his career s a famous artist. Chapters six through fifteen focus on the ups and downs of his career and personal life. Warhol also describes how "his mind works" when it comes to his artwork.

It talks about how his tragic life lead to very successful pieces of art. His personality and health problems made it hard for him to really be a part of society. After he figured out preaching was not the right profession, he turned to painting. Van Gogh had a strong passion for painting although he was barely recognized in his lifetime for his beautiful art work. His closest friend in life was his brother, Theo. He wrote Theo quite frequently dealing with his aspirations and conflicts. In the end Theo got married and Van Gogh committed suicide.

This encyclopedia source is able to provide much needed information on the background of Van Gogh. It gives great detail on the life of Van Gogh. The source also provides past artistic works of his. When writing this paper on Van Gogh and the postimpressionism era I will need to know about Van Gogh and his life. Also his relation to the artistic movement.
