This website goes over ethos, pathos, and logos. It helps me understand the readings better because it gives several examples of each concept. Ethos is ethical appeal that the author uses. Pathos is when the author trying to appeal to the readers emotions. Logos is the logic portion of writing that will begin to make sense to the reader.

The viewer's eyes are at first drawn to the left because the ad looks off the billboard, but then the reader sees the name of the fitness center which leads to the overweight gentleman on the right of the ad. Follows natural flow of left to right.

The covers on all magazines follow a type of repetition.  The title is always located at the top and centered.  Then along the left and right of the image there are "top" article names to draw the readers in

Adding subheadings, bullets, italics, font changes and color changes will add emphasis and make it easier for the reader to see easily what you are trying to bring across.

This page first lets you know what contrast is and how you use it and then goes on to give examples of contrast and how it can be used. This page and the examples are very helpful for beginners.

This site reinforces the principle of contrast. I like the definition that it provides. "Contrast makes a page more interesting so the reader is more apt to pay attention to what is on the page."

A defense of digital writing against criticism that computers are somehow diminishing writing. Makes the case that similar criticism has been levied against technology in the past.

"Adding emphasis to your writing will help readers see your main ideas both within sentences as well as with in the entire essay. Em phasis and variety can be achieved through design as well as thr ough the positioning of words within the sentence."

I like this resource because it looks at style and emphasis from a more academic viewpoint. (Week 10, 11/30)

Some more advanced principals of design that can be used to attract readers. This particular page goes over how elements in web page design can be put in balance to create greater (or lesser) impact to an audience.

I think this is a great resource because it caters directly to digital writing in that it is aimed at how balance works and can be achieved in web design. (10/14)
