Marche's article criticizes digital humanists for a perceived failure to adequately address the human and interpretive nature of literature by treating it as data. Two core issues identified by Marche is that literature, unlike statistics, is terminally incomplete - that parts frequently are missing or shifting - and that data mining efforts fail to account for context in literature. Marche argues that current data mining efforts are flawed because "algorithms are inherently fascistic" and that "meaning is mushy." Marche does not oppose digitization efforts and in fact welcomes the translation of texts into digital formats, rather Marche argues that literary meaning cannot be as readily quantified as numbers - that "insight remains handmade."

This study highlights the need for raising teacher's awareness of ER-based reading comprehension questions. This study was conducted to determine how frequently critical thinking is used in EFL reading comprehension contexts at the tertiary level in an Iranian University. To collect the data, the researchers observed all reading comprehension courses in one of the universities in Isfan Province. They recorded 30 percent of the total number of sessions using two mini-size MP4 wireless recorders during the spring semester. The findings suggested that the teachers focus on each CRQ type strongly influences student attention when reading different passages.

Audrey Altman is set to give a presentation at the University of Iowa entitled, "Attck of the Digital Map! The Wonderful Monsters We Create When Humanities and Technology Collide." In her upcoming presentation Audrey will discuss both historical analysis and digital mapping and the requirements that both bring to the table individually in any given project. Both are individually composed of different aspects and Audrey will try to discuss the pros and cons of both tools when used together simultaneously for one project. Altman will also highlight on the project that she and her undergraduate students have embarked upon this semester that attempts to utilize the two aspects into one project. She will attepmt to delve into the findings, triumphs, ailures, and education gained by she and her students throughout the whole experience.

This short blog post announces and advertises Audrey Altman's upcoming talk about digital mapping. This talk is designed to discuss how historical analysis of maps and digital mapping require different sets of skills and methodologies. She is speaking from the context of a project she is heading which is which is involving undergraduate students in to creation of map-based documents for an archive on Iowa Latino/a history. Her talk is going to talk about both problems and surprises involved with the project and digital mapping.

In this article a group of researchers are asked to describe the function that their blogs will serve to them and researchers that are going to viewing their blogs. These researchers blogs are motivated by the possibility to share knowledge, aid creativity and provide a feeling of being connected in their research. Ultimately the analysis brings out the blog's combination of function and possibility it offers to each multiple audience.

The two annoted biblographies present in this publication document sparks future discussions toward the activity of modeling the social edition. THis annotated biblography first explores reading devices, tools and social media issues and second, social networking tools for professional readers in the Humanities.

Sally Chambers, a librarian, put together this powerpoint presentation to talk about digital humanities and research infrastructure in the context of libraries. She begins by defining humanities, digital humanities, infrastructure, and research infrastructure. Along the way, she presents several useful and informational websites for those interested in learning more about the digital humanities. She also specifically talks about DARIAH (Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities) and its establishment as a European Research Infrastructure Consortium. As the presentation goes on, she shares its role with libraries as well as academics.
