Here's a great article written about the Dream Act, which allows young adults, that are immigrants, a chance to obtain a work authorization in order to stay in the United States. The reason this act was put into place was to speak out for those children who came into our countries with their parents and are considered illegal immigrants. These young adults are now dealing with the hardships of living in the U.S. illegally because they were not given a chance to decide on whether or not they wanted to live in this country.

Kansas City, MO has passed legislation to allow anyone who is under the age of 31, was brought here before the age of 16, is in school or the military, and has no criminal record to live here without any reprecussions. They are not eligible for a visa, greencard, etc, but can renew their application every two years. This is considered to be a huge victory, but they want the same rights for their parents.

Gay rights supporters scored another major victory in court Tuesday, when a state judge in Miami tossed out a statute that had for more than 30 years barred gay people in Florida from adopting children.

The article highlights the debate over Florida's law that restricts any unmarried couple that lives together from adopting children. This law indirectly bans gay married couples from adopting. 

The California ban on gay marriage was deemed as a violation of equal rights by the U.S. court of appeals. While many considered this a victory the opposing side is already looking to the future and is waiting to present their case to the U.S. Supreme court.

The war on terror is not a war like World War II. The enemy is not a state and it is not clear how victory will be reached. This means any loss of privacy will be open ended and may last for many years.
