Disabled students still facing discrimination trying to apply for jobs. This student in California was discriminated against for his disability.

This article is about faculty and students who decide to fight against the rise in tuition and the loss of jobs at the campuses in 2009. They decide to do a "walkout" in an attempt to stop this.

This article is about the vast difference in income between men and women. The article gives specific examples of how men in the same position as a women receive substantially more. It is said that women earn $.78 for every $1.00 that a man earns for the same job. Even worse, a women higher up earns only $.33 for every $1.00 a man with the same position.

This is mainly about the dream act and what it is. It allows young people, usually recent high school graduates, the opportunity to go to college regardless of their immigration status and even get a job. There are a few requirements in order for these young people to get the help they need though and most quialify.

The DREAM Act is a bill that will make it easier for illegal immigrants to attend school and become a citizen in the long run. This Act will only be allowed to those who meet the requirements of it. The president of the United States is for this bill because he believes those illegal immigrants should not be punished for "the actions of their parents" and be denied to further their education. Without this bill, illegal immigrants wanting to go to school, get a decent job or join the military will not be able to.

As bans on smoking sweep the USA, an increasing number of employers - primarily hospitals - are also imposing bans on smokers. They won't hire applicants whose urine tests positive for nicotine use, whether cigarettes, smokeless tobacco or even patches. Smokers are not only getting the cold shoulder from non-smokers it can now depend on whether they are able to get hired as well. Employers are now asking new hires if they are smokers or not, and if there is evidence in their urine of tobacco use it could damage their chances of getting hired.

This author has an argument against our Government on how there shouldn't be so many laws.

Greg Merle does a wonderful job of pointing out the facts that lead to the question are we really free? He lists a few restrictions the government puts on the American people.

"What is it that big government doesn't get about the "pursuit of happiness". We have to be free to make mistakes. We don't need laws designed to protect me from me, such as seat belt laws, trans fat laws, helmet laws, shower head water flow laws, etc. Did you know that there is actually a black market on certain toilets because the government wants to control how much you flush?  From a logical stand point, it's ridiculous."

A worker got fired from her job after posting a comment on Facebook. NLRB ruled that this woman rights were violated because there are federal laws that protect employees rights to discuss their workplace problems. Now there are new ruling that apply workers rights to online discussions to ensure employees freedom.

This is support from a teacher at an academic center for the DREAM Act, as numerous of her students fall into the category of Dreamers. It shows statistics that would increase jobs and revenue for America.

I'm just amazed that they use any excuse to try and remove the "unwanted" from view instead of looking for a way to help them.

I recently saw a news special on Panhandling and all their nasty tricks and to me the most shocking thing was that some/most of them aren't even homeless they consider this a "job". However, the worst part is some of them much more than the average fast food workers. So yes I completely agree with the article that panhandling should be illegal!

Due to the heighted security on the border patrol, there has been numerous amounts of innocent people killed. Due to the tension, patrol officers are shooting and killing people who aren't trying to come over to the United States.

This makes me sad. Was it really necessary for that boy to be shot so many times? I understand that border patrol officers have an important job to do and they have the right to defend themselves when rocks are being thrown at them, but to shoot someone 11 times? According to the article the boy was shot 7 times in the back, more than likely while attempting to flee. I do not understand why a man who has his hands restrained behind his back would need to be tazered. These actions are not reasonable or necessary.

I don't agree with the "second hand that follows" with this law of racial profiling. But then again profiling is part of law enforcements job. There is nothing wrong for a police officier just asking for a citizenship card, green card, visa, or regular identification, if suspected. But if it goes further then i think that it is wrong.

Many students that have entered the states illegally, but have legally obtained a University diploma are having hard times finding jobs after college. Although the DREAM act allows for students that are illegal to obtain residency for college students. Although, Rhode Island students might be facing bigger problems because many employers cannot hire students because they are not legal.

Town clerk refuses to sign same sex marriage certificates. Her religious belief is that homosexuality is a sin and it is wrong. she feels that her government job is asking her to leave her religious beliefs behind, something she simply will not do.

This article is about legalizing marijuana to help the spur the economy and create jobs. President Obama disagrees with the idea of legalizing marijuana. Attorney General Eric Holder said that federal agents will seek criminal charges against marijuana users if federal and state laws are broke.

Ask just about anyone. They'll all tell you they're in favor of equal rights for homosexuals. Just name the situation, and ask. They'll all say, yes, gays should have the same rights in housing, jobs, public accommodations, and should have equal access to government benefits, equal protection of the law, etcetera, etcetera.

This is an article about how businesses and employers discriminate against attoos in the workplace and how they are viewed. If someone say has a full sleeve on his/her left arm, whats to say someone who doesnt will be able to do the job better?

The author(s) of this article does a good job pointing out how the media portrays women and the stereotype they try to make them fit. They talk about how the media appeals to overweight women in an effort to sell diet products and on the contrary how these media types cause women to be depressed and cause other eating disorders. There is also lots of information about how other countries portray and regulate how women are portrayed in the media.
