The DREAM Act is a bill that will make it easier for illegal immigrants to attend school and become a citizen in the long run. This Act will only be allowed to those who meet the requirements of it. The president of the United States is for this bill because he believes those illegal immigrants should not be punished for "the actions of their parents" and be denied to further their education. Without this bill, illegal immigrants wanting to go to school, get a decent job or join the military will not be able to.
A US Citizen was pulled over and was accused of being an illegal alien. The policeman who had pulled her over threatened that if she did not say she was an illegal, she would be detained and put in jail.
okay so it's totally understandable that people want to know what they are eating especially since we are all unique as an individual and some of us care about what we put in our bodies. There are a lot of people who have become vegans and only prefer to eat organic, non-genetically modified foods. Some people view certain things as a concern for their health. Labeling foods is something that I can agree with and believe is completely logical so i fit into the percentile of 92% of the citizens that vote for GMO labeling.
Google is under intense scrutiny after it's role in the National Security Association scandal that involving mass surveillance of U.S. Citizens. In a recent court filing, Google asserts non gmail users sending emails to Gmail accounts can't expect any privacy when sending the email correspondence. Google scans the email using an electronic program to target ads to the end user. Non gmail users can expect their personal and/ or professional email correspondence to be intercepted and read before being delivered to the gmail end user.
I'm not sure if there's any place at all where you can expect privacy when sending e-mail. That just reminded me of my work. Every day when you see the login screen, it reminds you that with our system, you don't have any reasonable expectation of privacy. I wonder how many people even read that.
Naming your child after the "Messiah" should be a parents personal & religious freedom, but a Tennessee judge is forcing a mother to change her son's name to Martin. Religious freedom is for those who choose religion and those who oppose religion. How do we find a fair and equal balance for all.
I'd followed this case somewhat but never from the angle of calling a child "Messiah" could infringe on the religious freedom of others. While I don't think this was the parents intention, there should be some legal mechanism in place to prevent this infringement. I think the judge in this case got it wrong in her ruling, her justifications for changing the baby's name were wrong. I do foresee a more solid legal challenge to naming children "Messiah" pushing forward.
There is somewhat of a controversial issue here that could have this child set apart in a religious community. There are certain sects of Jewish and Christian communities that would see this as an insult and have this child's back against the wall when he came of age and none of which would be his fault. Although this is the perfect example of what a name is or can be for example Mr or Esquire which are simply titles, judgments being made on the child's name are debatable.
I think this is a great article about personal freedom. I think you should be able to name your child whatever you like. Every religion, culture has their own name for "Jesus." Why would you make anyone change the name. I understand why some people would be against it, for religious purpose. As a U.S citizen you have the freedom to Religion.
Very interesting topic. I am religious and find this to be ridiculous. I understand the judge may find it to infringe on a person's religious beliefs, but come on, seriously?! I think a parent should be able to name their kid whatever they want.
New York City made stop and search laws in belief that it would lower the rate of violent crimes. Stop and frisk laws allow police to pat down any suspicious person. The amount of people being stopped has reached a high number. Of those many people, it seems that law enforcement is singling out certain races. These races being mainly Latino or African American.
This article argues the fact that the "stop-and-frisk" program implemented in the beginning of the 1990's doesn't help in reducing crime rate; however, there are substantial evidence that say it has been used by NYPD officials as a way of discrimination towards minorities.

This article discusses new gun control measures that have been signed into effect. It discusses the delay in legislation approval by Congress and President Obama taking action to get measures I place. Opinions of the NRA and other sources are provided.
I feel a lot of deja vu reading this article. It's the same old song and dance and none of them have learned that as United States citizens, we like our guns; and we will not be separated from them. Criminals do not follow laws, more gun control is useless without reinforcing the statutes already in place.
This article is interesting because it is about how China has taken away legal rights from it's citizens. The topic was brought up when a lady, Tang Hui, who was tossed into a "reeducating by labor" camp for advocating for her daughter, that was raped and sold into a prostitution ring. Tang Hui was just standing up for her daughter's rights by raising her voice when the accused were not given a just sentence for their crimes.
Religion is one of our Constitutioal rights proctected by the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights. No one has the right to tell any U.S. citizen what or what not religion to practice.
I think that everyone has the right to believe in what they want. As long as they don't try to force others then I see no problem in it. I myself am not a religious person, but that does not mean that I should go around telling people what they believe in is wrong. We should all have an understandings for others beliefs and not try to shut them down just because of our own beliefs.

In this article, Lorna Jaynes expresses her thoughts on gay marriage and polygomy. She thinks that gay marrige should be allowed and that people who are also in favore of making it legal and for those who arn't should keep an open mind to other relationship views like polygomy. The reality show Sister Wives is used as a example in that they are being sued because Kody Brown is "married" to four woman. Their argument is that they are not causing and physical problems for anyone and they are not harming their children in any way so the government should stay out of their presonal lives.

Seventy-three percent couldn't correctly say why we fought the Cold War. Forty-four percent were unable to define the Bill of Rights.
