America as a Religious Refuge: The Seventeenth Century, Part 1 - Religion and the Found... - 0 views

  •
(Original) "The religious persecution that drove settlers from Europe to the British North American colonies sprang from the conviction, held by Protestants and Catholics alike, that uniformity of religion must exist in any given society. This conviction rested on the belief that there was one true religion and that it was the duty of the civil authorities to impose it, forcibly if necessary, in the interest of saving the souls of all citizens" (Paraphrased) Fleeing the oppression of a state sponsored religion, both Protestant and Catholic, those souls who risked everything to cross the Atlantic came to the American Colonies with the express purpose to be able to practice their religious beliefs as they saw fit without the forced philosophies of a government sponsored religion being forced upon them.

Catholic leaders question religious freedom in America - 0 views

  •
The Pope spoke to American bishops recently about the topic of religious freedom in America. It was described as "eroding" and the bishops are allegedly feeling the heat of openness to gay marriages among other things. The only "religion" I noticed the Pope mentioning concern for, however, was Christianity.

Will the Catholic Church Win Its Suits Against the Obama Contraception Mandate? - US Ne... - 0 views

  •
You will find this article is comparable to oral contraception law, but also deals with the religious organization should be exempt from providing their employees with birth control. Here is a something I found interesting " It argues that while churches themselves are exempt from providing birth control to employees free of charge, "religious schools, hospitals, and social services don't qualify as religious, and must therefore provide these drugs and procedures."

Catholics, Condoms, and the Seperation of Church and State - 0 views

Article written by Terence Clark. The following quote is an example of the lack of discussion reference premarital sex. According to Clark, apparently the only choice is safe sex or unsafe sex; no sex is not an option. Add to that the last phrase about taking care of them and you have an example of entitlement: "Women's rights and the alarming speed with which the world's population is growing make access to birth control a necessity, not a sin. The Church -- and its supporters in some government circles in Washington -- would have all those children be born willy nilly, yet seem to care very little about supporting them once they are born."

  •
Archbishop Charles J. Chaput wants Catholics to wake up and realize that our First Amendment rights are being taken from us. Obamacare has a provision that forces a person to violate their personal religious beliefs regarding abortion and sterilization. He also brings attention to the Hosanna-Tabor case and the treatment of the Obama administration's assault on traditional marriage.

All this Birth Control Nonsense - Blogcritics Politics - 0 views

  •
Making it a law for employers to pay for birth control. I believe that that not such a great idea. Employees have the right to consume birth control or not to. Everybody has a different point of view for birth control. Some religions don't allow the followers to take these kind of medication. Not just Catholics have a say in these soon to be law but everybody should make there own decisions.

Religious Freedom - 0 views

We need to work hard to keep our religious freedom. Most religious organizations are required by the Department of Human Services to provide contraceptive coverage in employee health care plans. A lot of government contracts have been lost due to religious organizations refusal to place children with same-sex couples.

I agree we need to continually fight for our religious freedoms.

Libertarians And Gay Marriage - 0 views

  •
With the help of libertarians New York was the largest state to legalize same sex marriage. New York is only the sixth state to legalize same sex marriage. Many power officials were reprimanded for speaking out against same sex marriage. Same sex marriage has also affected some religious adoption agencies. A catholic adoption agency has been reprimanded for refusing the adoption to a same sex family.
  •
This article shows how the Libertarian party has very conflicting views regarding same sex marriage. On one hand, same sex marriage corresponds with the Libertarian motto. On the other hand, however, many Libertarians are torn between their party's motto and what they inherently believe to be "true marriage."
