At least 700 people were arrested protesting against corporate greed, and social inequalities in New York. Protestors were arrested for disrupting traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge. I have heard it all now. This article talks about the fact that you need a permit to have a garage sale. On top of the permit you need to pay a fine. For what? you have to pay to sell your own stuff.

In a New York Times article, author Adam Liptak details the change in law enforcement priorities to preventing terrorist attacks over punishing crimes after they have been committed and how this may be an infringement on our freedom of speech. After the September 11th attack, surveillance of religious and dissident groups and informants in Muslim groups caused early arrests as "material support," in support of terrorist organizations.
