Last week, if you squinted your eyes and tilted your head a little bit to the right, you might have thought America had magically traveled back in time to the 1950s (or 1850s). The recent shift in the political conversation to contraception has been not only surprising but, for many, downright disturbing (bone-chilling, WTF, "what kind of documentation do I need to move to Canada?" This article explores the hidden issue of birth control. What started out innocent enough allowing certain institutions to not participate in providing birth control for their employees has turned into a debate on whether women deserve it or not. Taking birth control does not promote promiscious activities and it is used for other means other than preventing pregnancy.

Making it a law for employers to pay for birth control. I believe that that not such a great idea. Employees have the right to consume birth control or not to. Everybody has a different point of view for birth control. Some religions don't allow the followers to take these kind of medication. Not just Catholics have a say in these soon to be law but everybody should make there own decisions.

The Catholic church is set on its belief that regardless of the circustance religious beliefs far out weighs a womens right to have preventative health care. The Obama admistration has ruled that insurance companies cover birth control cost, and this has caused an uproar by the Catholic bishops.

Arizona has a bill awaiting the state's House approval that would give any employer the option to not offer employees contraception. This bill is meant to protect the businesses that have a religious or moral objection to birth control.

It's frightening to listen to our governor talk about this bill. Scary!

If planned parenthood were to be defunded, it is predicted that the government would end up spending more in the long run on public assistance. Planned parenthood provides many services for women, one of them being birth control. Statistics in this article show that women who used birth control were easily able to finish school, find jobs, and create a steady life before having children. Defunding this organization would cost America more money in the bigger scheme of things.

The author believes planned parenthood is positive. It boosts the economy because those women have the chance to plan their pregnancies and prevent unwanted ones.

Mississippi tried to pass Initiative 26. This would make abortion and also birth control illegal. It stated that personhood starts at the moment of conception. So, abortion would be murder. This brought up a lot of controversy. Such as if a woman miscarried would that mean she committed murder?

Based off of statistics the issue is not whether or not sex education is appropriate in schools, but what kind of sex education should be taught. A portion of parents prefer that schools only teach their children strictly about abstinence. Other parents prefer that the school teach a program referred to as "abstinence-plus", which educates students on birth control and abstinence.

The long constant debate about sex education in schools has come to a halt. For the most part students, parents, and principals are satisfied with the topics being taught, however a low percent think only certain topics should be discussed.
