The introduction of how to use the holistic critical thinking scoring rubric.Holistic scoring requires focus. Whatever one is evaluating, be it an essay, a presentation, a group decision making activity, or the thinking a person displays in a professional practice setting, many elements must come together for overall success: critical thinking, content knowledge, and technical skill (craftsmanship). Deficits or strengths in any of these can draw the attention of the rater. However, in scoring for any one of the three, one must attempt to focus the evaluation on that element to the exclusion of the other two. To use this rubric correctly, one must apply it with focus only on the critical thinking - that is the reasoning process used.

Although a lens to view the future is clouded, and must be filtered through the past and present, the ability to stand back and think about the impact of technologies on student learning will undergird research in technology for the education of children, youth, and adults with disabilities in the 21st century. We must view the coming changes, and they will be massive, from the perspective that technology provides access to learning but does not control it; that technologies are not the content of education鉹ather, they provide a cornucopia of tools for learning.

A discussion of the history of digital storytelling and how it is being used educationally is presented in this article. The theoretical framework, technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPCK), is described, along with a discussion of how this model might be used with digital storytelling.

This research article provides an overview of how transformative learning experiences can be created through instructional design.  The aim is to use instruction to make learning more experiential, personally relevant and transformative to students.  The authors explain a framework for providing transformative learning experiences, including several indicators that fall into the categories of developing personal meaning, competence with the subject and relationships.  The authors also present guidelines for designing these experiences, including applying design fundamentals, crafting the learning experience and teaching and facilitating to inspire learning. A great post that reminds readers about the transcendence of narrative writing across genres (and across subjects!) The teacher uses historical and science fiction as inspiration for her ELA students' writing projects, but ideas, such as the "What if . . ." digital presentation project she mentions from Larry Ferlazzo could be used in almost any subject. The author's ideas for having students prove their informational research are also very helpful. I loved reading the post, too. Her, "Nobody puts baby in a corner," quote made me laugh out loud.

Mind map for using Google. Links include classroom tools, google teacher academy, teacher community, NECC presentations, classroom activities, and classroom posters. I like the way the author used the web to map everything out. Kind of reminds me of a sports playoff bracket but in this case it's used to help you pinpoint exactly what you need.

Great website for educators to access royalty free clip art, lesson plans, clip media, and presentations.

This website is AMAZING. It has clip-art, photographs, presentation images, maps, lessons, and answers to tech questions. There are so many images available, they are free (up to a certain amount, but it is very generous), it tells you exactly how to cite them, and it has options for file size and format. I saw this site on an Edmodo thread for classroom animation... It could be an alternative to Prezi for digital story telling...

This site discusses the app Explain Everything, which I used to make my first digital storytelling presentation. It is great for a little bit of screen casting on a tablet. The app lets you export as a video as well.
