A research article written by a UCF faculty Teaching with Technology: A Case Study of Online Faculty Development at the University of Central Florida

This is a brief, interesting article that highlights some of the components we have been learning in EME5050.  The author discusses and evaluates the increasing openness of education, particularly through online environments.  

After last week's blog posting with many of us still wondering if schools are keeping up with all the new technology, this article explains how OCPS is using Google's applications to increase teacher and student knowledge of technology and all of its benefits in the classroom.

"Using iPads in the classrom" article gives an overview on how to incorporate relevant games, apps, etc.

This research article provides an overview of how transformative learning experiences can be created through instructional design.  The aim is to use instruction to make learning more experiential, personally relevant and transformative to students.  The authors explain a framework for providing transformative learning experiences, including several indicators that fall into the categories of developing personal meaning, competence with the subject and relationships.  The authors also present guidelines for designing these experiences, including applying design fundamentals, crafting the learning experience and teaching and facilitating to inspire learning. A good articles about the positive benefits of utilizing cell phones in the classroom and includes some good examples!

Nice article that reminded me that I can't always force students to use the social media I want them to use, I have to learn about what they are using.

Article published by Dr. Jeffrey Kaplan of UCF College of Education. His article is on page 126 in case it doesn't come up. His article is titled "A Journey Home: Teaching Towards Self-Understanding."

Good article on the need to develop/ sustain an interest in "how technology works," through technology education targeted at early high school students. The Australian Computer Society, mentioned in the article, "strives for ICT to be recognised as a driver of innovation in our society . . . ."
