The Connected Educator Month (CEM) initiative networks educators and education stakeholders through connected professional learning experiences worldwide. Over the past three years, millions of educators and others around the world have participated in hundreds of professional development and other educational opportunities, offering highly distributed, diverse, and engaging activities to all stakeholders at all levels.

This is a link to the full-text research article authored by Glenda A. Gunter, Robert F. Kenny and Erik H. Vick. The title is "Taking educational games seriously: using the RETAIN model to design endogenous fantasy into standalone educational games". The authors argue that for educational games to be effective, a new design paradigm needs to be utilized. They recommend the RETAIN design and evaluation model. The article is published in Education Tech Research Dev (2008) 56:511-537 and the DOI is 10.1007/s11423-007-9073-2.

This blog is by Florida's Department of Education commissioner Gerard Robinson. This blog cover topic within the field of education that over topics on variety of thing such as FCAT, Parental Involvement, School Choice, Science, Involvement and Education tips for at home. It's a cool way to get a feel of what the commissioner is thinking and finds important to share with others about the field of education.

This is a brief, interesting article that highlights some of the components we have been learning in EME5050.  The author discusses and evaluates the increasing openness of education, particularly through online environments.

The Florida Center for Instructional Technology is located at USF and is funded by the Florida Department of Education.  It provides links to numerous educational technology resources.

The Florida Center for Instructional Technology (FCIT) provides leadership, instructional materials, and support services to educational institutions with regard to the integration of technology into K-20 education. Has thousands of royalty-free clipart and images.

I really like the resources for presentations and technology incorporation in the classroom in the Educational Technology Clearinghouse section of the site.

Great website for educators to access royalty free clip art, lesson plans, clip media, and presentations.

This website is AMAZING. It has clip-art, photographs, presentation images, maps, lessons, and answers to tech questions. There are so many images available, they are free (up to a certain amount, but it is very generous), it tells you exactly how to cite them, and it has options for file size and format. Edutopia is all about change and innovation in education. It is a great website to explore for new ideas, educational resources and discussion boards.

This is great website to reference to as an educator. It has a variety of information and perspective from various professional in the field of education. I love the fact that it has blogs broken down into categories that covers topics in certain grade level. Overall this website is very user friendly and truly utilizes the multimedia format.

A great education news site that provides a sub section just for technology. A fantastic way to get access to up-to-day edtech news and best practices. Perfect resource for those in EdTech.

Great information for all types of character education or values education. Many activities and book lists for character education for kids.

Discovery Education has terrific resources that is linked to the current textbook that your county may be using for it's curriculum. User friendly and the United streaming is also helpful when planning lessons with the library of video segments.

I did not know until EME5050 that digital storytelling was such a prevalent theme in medical education.

TIELab "Technology in Education Laboratory" homepage. Serves to integrate technology into learning as mentioned in Best Practice. They have a History Lab link, templates for student based inquiry activities, and a link to network with other educators and share good uses of technology in education.

The Office of Educational Technology is involved in a variety of projects and initiatives that leverage technology to improve teaching and learning and create opportunities for innovation.
