Top Open Source Learning Management Systems - 0 views

  •
Open source Learning Management Systems have become extremely popular in recent years, but what does open source mean? Open Source technology is technology where the source code is "open", that is, the code is available to the public and free to be modified. Improvements can be made by developers and it can be spread or sold to the wider community. So, why should an organization choose an open source Learning Management System as opposed to a homegrown or proprietary LMS?

The Androids are Coming! The Androids are Coming! - 0 views

  •
Some teachers feel threatened by these changes, while others embrace the new technologies right in their own classrooms. Many teachers now encourage their students to supplement their classroom experience with online resources. A rapidly increasing fraction of high school teachers are even letting students use their own mobile devices as powerful research tools right in the classroom. Hundreds of millions of views confirm that kids can and will voluntarily visit sites such as Khan Academy when they provide learning opportunities that the students missed, for whatever reason, in their previous classroom experience. I will leave you with one last thought: Just imagine the potential when the intelligence, creativity, empathy, and passion of teachers are combined with the power of e-learning technologies. The results will undoubtedly be synergistic, and will take learning to a whole new level that most of us can hardly even imagine. What are the possible ways that teachers may collaborate with the droids in the future? We should seek out the visionaries who can imagine this. They will pave the way to a bright future

Tell me the truth. How many times have you attend a pathetic, poor, bad, awful, boring, stupid, and wasteful crappy Webinar? How many times have you attend a Webinar where the walking dead hang out in cyber space, where the talking-head with the PowerPoint presentation puts you in his/her digital misery. Would you like to captivate the audience through eloquent delivery and beautiful design? Would you like to push the limits of technology? Would you like to transform your Webinar design and delivery? The future of Flash - 0 views

  •
I have some legacy Flash projects that are up for revamp, it has simple interactive quiz type questions. If you were in my position, would you switch to HTML5? Moreover, I am looking at interactive "games" software etc Raptivity, it's almost entirely in Flash. Would you recommend buying Raptivity? I'm really sorry to say that it's stupid for the whole world to be trying to get rid of a technology that is working well and pervasive. Many of us have invested heavily in Flash. Am I to think now that I have to avoid Flash? Obviously, the games and fun interactive activities like crossword puzzles, etc are most suitable for Mobile devices. However, many of us invested heavily in Flash and non-technical as I am, I question if HTML5 can indeed replace Flash. I just want to hear your views.

vAcademia a virtual world for education - 0 views

  •
vAcademia is a virtual world for education. Here you can learn, here you can teach. vAcademia has everything you need for effective classes and lectures: convenient classrooms, interactive whiteboards with presentation tools, text and audio communication, and web camera support. The key advantage of vAcademia over other worlds is its option to record classes. This advantage is based on an original technological feature - 3D recording, which allows creating a new type of content that comprise both space and time. This type of content can be called 'virtcast' - a 3D recording of activities in virtual reality or a series of such recordings.

Research shows that behavior changes at a minimum require repeated practice with extensive feedback. Simulation technology now offers the capability to go past traditional training and produce effective soft skills training. http://elearningindustry.com/the-challenge-of-teaching-soft-skills

  •
Does Bloom's Taxonomy still have a role to play in e-learning? Mayes and de Freitas (2004) state that the use of technology can be used to achieve better learning outcomes, more effective assessments or a more cost effective way of bringing learning environments to students; and that reforming practice requires transformation of the understanding of the principles. So what are the pedagogical principles behind "e" learning? Is Blooms Taxonomy Relevant to e-learning? http://elearningindustry.com/does-blooms-taxonomy-still-have-a-role-to-play-in-e-learning

A New Way to Enable Today's Experts and Learners - 0 views

  •
A New Way to Enable Today's Experts and Learners Typical learning systems tend to focus on the development of traditional training, deployment of learning content, and logistics of learning events. However, they do little to capture and retain valuable business knowledge. For many of today's businesses, this knowledge is not just about how to conduct transactions but how, when, and why to utilize these transactions within their business process. It's also about employees being able to make the best decisions and being able to apply operational talents and expertise to the ultimate practice of the business - satisfying and delighting customers and constituents. http://elearningindustry.com/subjects/companies/item/419-new-way-experts-learners-learning-training
