And it's so incredibly simple to use. You can either access the app through the Chrome Web Store, or simply go straight to the webpage (http://transcribe.wreally.com/), bookmark it and add it to your toolbar for easy access. Transcribe is geared towards Google Chrome because because the Web app requires the HTML5 functionality. It's also worth noting that Transcribe works entirely offline - which allayed my initial fears that this tool would be heavily restricted by a dependence on connectivity."

Children (and most adults) love looking at themselves on a webcam and this flash based site lets you add over 70 filters and effects. Use the snapshot button to grab an image. There are lots of ways to use this tool in class. This MQF (gotta love those government acronyms!) got me thinking about whether we technology early adopters need a self-imposed moratorium on talking about new technology tools, at least in certain settings. One of the most common refrains heard from teachers or administrators who listen to us talk or blog about all of these new cool tools is "Why do I care about this as an educator?" In our eagerness to share our nearly-palpable glee and excitement, we often struggle to adequately answer the "So what?" question in ways that are substantive and meaningful to the average teacher or administrator.

Few online resources provoke as much controversy in the library community as Wikipedia. Some librarians hate it, arguing that since anyone can edit it, it can't be trusted. Others love it, because it is fast, easy to use, and a good starting point for research. With such a conflicted relationship, there's no clear answer as to where (or whether) Wikipedia belongs in libraries. We librarians are not sure what we should do with it.

Sure it comes with a sweet Babylon A.D. trailer, but I just had to have some more video to pack onto that 8 gig card to show off to all my friends.
