This is a superb site and download where you can make 3D animated cartoons by selecting your props, characters and locations and then use blocks to programme how things move and interact in a similar way to MIT's Scratch. You can upload your creations to the website to share. There are a set of challenges to try and you can even remix animations designed by other users. OER Storytelling Project - OER Commons - 0 views

  •
This storytelling framework seeks to assist OER projects in documenting and sharing key developments in the creation, use and reuse of open educational resources. By using the template to tell your story, you can help to build capacity for inquiry and information sharing across projects worldwide, which can in turn help your own as well as other projects to: * Discover unknown potential within projects; * Learn how other OER projects have overcome similar challenges and fulfilled similar needs; * Improve networking so that relevant learnings and opportunities can be identified and leveraged; * Use unique experiences and expertise to help other OER projects and to advance the field at large

Behaviorism, 4cognitivism, and constructivism are the three broad learning 1theories most often utilized in the creation of instructional environments. These theories, however, were developed in a time when learning was not impacted through technology. Over the last twenty years, technology has reorganized how we live, how we communicate, and how we learn. 1Learning needs and theories that describe learning principles and processes, should be reflective of underlying social environments. Vaill emphasizes that "learning must be a way of being - an ongoing set of attitudes and actions by individuals and groups that they employ to try to keep abreast o the surprising, novel, messy, obtrusive, recurring events…" (1996, p.42).

Faculty Profile - 0 views

Chris Dede's fundamental interest is the expanded human capabilities for knowledge creation, sharing, and mastery that emerging technologies enable. His teaching models the use of information technology to distribute and orchestrate learning across space, time, and multiple interactive media. His research spans emerging technologies for learning, infusing technology into large-scale educational improvement initiatives, policy formulation and analysis, and leadership in educational innovation. He is currently conducting funded studies to develop and assess learning environments based on modeling and visualization, online teacher professional development, wireless mobile devices for ubiquitous computing, and multiuser virtual environments. Dede also is active in policy initiatives, including creating a widely used State Policy Framework for Assessing Educational Technology Implementation and studying the potential of developing a scalability index for educational innovations. From 2001 to 2004, he served as chair of the Learning & Teaching area at HGSE.

A Unified Field Theory of Design - 1 views

  •
An understanding of Information Design starts with the essential view that the vast amount of things that bombard our senses everyday are not pieces of information but merely data. Richard Saul Wurman expresses this in his book, Information Anxiety. Data is fairly worthless to most of us; it is the product of research or creation (such as writing), but it is not an adequate product for communicating. To have informational value, it must be organized, transformed, and presented in a way that gives it meaning.

How to Destroy the Book, by Cory Doctorow (part two) | theVARSITY.ca - 2 views

  •
Brilliant speech by Cory Doctorow "Copying has been part of our narrative tradition for as long as we've had a narrative tradition. If you pick up a pop copy of the Babylonian version of the creation myth, you'll find that the people who wrote Genesis copied from it. Copying is part of how we do all the stuff that makes our society run."
