"Decisiones. ¿Te ha ocurrido alguna vez ir a una pizzería y no saber qué pizza elegir? ¿Te ha ocurrido alguna vez elegir una pizza para luego cambiar de opinión? ¿Te ha ocurrido alguna vez haber elegido una pizza y mientras estás conversando con otras personas pensar si has elegido la pizza que realmente te apetecía? ¿Te ha ocurrido alguna vez comerte una pizza y sentirte mal porque sabes que no era esa pizza la debías haber elegido? ¿Te ha pasado alguna vez cambiar de pizza una vez elegida por el mero hecho de que la persona que tienes a tu lado o enfrente ha pedido otra pizza distinta? ¿Te ha pasado alguna vez comerte la pizza que has elegido y mirar la pizza de la persona que tienes al lado y arrepentirte de tu elección? Si es así, te doy la bienvenida al extraordinario mundo de la toma de decisiones. Si es así te doy la bienvenida a la paradoja de la elección. Tal vez pensarás que la elección de una pizza no es tan importante. Pero si en lugar de una pizza la toma de decisiones tiene que ver con tu seguro médico, con el colegio de tus hijos, con la elección de un trabajo o con la compra de un coche o de tu casa, entonces la decisión ya no es una decisión baladí. Es por ello que en el artículo de hoy quiero que aprendas algunos sencillos y efectivos consejos para tomar la mejor opción en cada una de las decisiones que tomes en tu vida, independientemente de si la elección consiste en una pizza o en la compra de una casa. Dichos consejos los he extraído del extraordinario libro titulado The Paradox of Choice. "... Como en cada historia de éxito (salvo en el caso de las irreemplazables tapas de empanadas), las críticas no tardaron en llegar. Los educadores, psicólogos y demás investigadores se empezaron a preguntar un montón de cosas, entre las cuales estaban: ¿Pero estas pruebas, miden realmente lo que el alumno sabe? ¿Y si quiero saber si el alumno aprendió a razonar, esto de qué me sirve? ¿A los varones les va mejor, peor o igual que a las mujeres en estas pruebas? ¿Y a personas de países y culturas diferentes? ¿Tiene sentido la vida? Para hacerla corta: a través de los años se empezaron a acumular una vasta y fructífera cantidad de investigaciones al respecto, y también surgieron enfoques de evaluación alternativos, como las pruebas más subjetivas (entre las cuales está "el oral" que tantos de nosotros detestamos). Pero entre tanto ida y vuelta, oh sorpresa!: a pesar de las críticas negativas, los docentes las seguían usando. Porque si había algo innegable, era que estas pruebas eran muy prácticas. ... Tal vez la mejor noticia de todas en este asunto sea que docentes de distintos lugares fueron encontrando maneras innovadoras de incorporar al formato multiple-choice a sus métodos de enseñanza para obtener como resultado más y mejor aprendizaje. La mayoría de ellas tiene que ver con hacer que los alumnos reflexionen acerca de la respuesta que dieron, la justifiquen y la revisen. Pero existen otras que incentivan al alumno a ponerse en el lugar del docente y apropiarse de su aprendizaje. Éste es el caso del método inventado por Paul Denny, un docente neozelandés que creó un sistema online (Peerwise) en el que los alumnos diseñan sus propias preguntas multiple-choice y discuten con otros si están bien o mal diseñadas y por qué. "

With an easy to understand interface, new users can get started in minutes. Projection mapping, also known as video mapping and spatial augmented reality, is a projection technology used to turn objects, often irregularly shaped, into a display surface for video projection. These objects may be complex industrial landscapes, such as buildings. By using specialized software, a two or three dimensional object is spatially mapped on the virtual program which mimics the real environment it is to be projected on. The software can interact with a projector to fit any desired image onto the surface of that object. This technique is used by artists and advertisers alike who can add extra dimensions, optical illusions, and notions of movement onto previously static objects. The video is commonly combined with, or triggered by, audio to create an audio-visual narrative."

"Last year I went to West Kalimantan in Borneo to see for myself the effects of the runaway growth of the palm oil industry. I came home firm in the belief that Iceland would not continue using palm oil until companies delivered on their zero deforestation commitments. This is because palm oil has had devastating consequences for local communities, who are being displaced, and on endangered species like the orangutan (our closest relative in the wild), which are being driven close to extinction. Palm oil has many benefits, chiefly that its yields are better than the alternatives. But it is grown almost exclusively in areas of tropical rainforest, which are the 'crown jewels' of our planet's biodiversity. With 146 football pitches of rainforest being lost every hour in Indonesia alone, the urgency of the crisis cannot be overstated. And global demand is set to double by 2050. At Iceland the 1,000 tonnes of palm oil we used annually pale into insignificance compared to many of our competitors. As such a tiny player we took the decision that the only way we could create meaningful change was to shout very loudly from outside the established palm oil industry. So we decided simply to stop using palm oil until the industry cleaned up its act. It was our own decision to give consumers a choice where previously there was none. We never called for a wider industry ban, and accept entirely that a wholesale boycott of palm oil is not the right long term solution. ..."
