CrashCourse - YouTube - 0 views

  •
Grade: 6-12 Indiana Courses: So many This is a link to one of my favorite YouTube channels, Crash Course. I have personally seen these videos used in high school AP Government, high school Economics, and middle school social studies classes. They provide succinct, fun, and informative information on a variety of topics and help facilitate information on a particular topic or unit as a fun visual/audio change of pace to a normal class structure of lecturing. These videos are useful for middle school and high school lessons (but seriously, I often watch them in my spare time because they're that good.)

The Human Journey: Migration Routes - 0 views

  •
Grade: 6-12 Social Studies Indiana Course: 1500 This National Geographic map shows the history of human migration from ancestral Africa to every inhabited continent in the world. This resource would work for a general History class, World History, or Geography, but I specifically selected it based on the Indiana State Approved Course Titles and Descriptions text.

Classroom Activities | University of Washington Center for Philosophy for Children - 0 views

  •
Grade: 9-12 Social Studies Indiana Course: 1602 This is a list of classroom activities devised by the University of Washington that are intended to promote critical thought and introspection in students, and as such, are recommended for grades 9 through 12. The activities could be retrofit for classes other than philosophy, such as those which require research papers or for government/politics classes involving the Founding Fathers.

The Presidents Song! - YouTube - 0 views

  •
Grade: 11 or 12 Social Studies Indiana Courses: 1552-1592 This is a YouTube video of all the Presidents' names in order (up to Bush 43, as it was made in 2007) . This would be a useful tool for audio learners or visual learners, as it includes pictures of all the Presidents as it says their names, and does so to the tune of "Yankee Doodle". Musical sources should not be underestimated as a teaching tool as music often ties intimately to our memory!

Pythagorean Theorem - Flocabulary - 0 views

  •
This site lists really neat lyrics to a song about the Pythagorean Theorem. This would be a great introduction to the theorem for students that have not used it before. Kids could take parts or recite the song together, or a teacher could create a video of some sort that uses these lyrics. This corresponds to Indiana State Standard 8.4.5 for eighth-grade math.

Road Rage - 0 views

  •
This activity is appropriate for middle school students learning about linear equations and corresponds to the Indiana State Standard 8.3.1 for eighth grade math. Students can do a worksheet (provided) about car collisions. Some of the answers will be negative and/or require rounding. To help students visualize this topic, an activity is provided in which students race or collide remote-controlled cars and collect data and analyze the meaning of their results.
