    Grade: 9-12 Social Studies Indiana Course: 1602 This is a list of classroom activities devised by the University of Washington that are intended to promote critical thought and introspection in students, and as such, are recommended for grades 9 through 12. The activities could be retrofit for classes other than philosophy, such as those which require research papers or for government/politics classes involving the Founding Fathers.

    This activity is appropriate for middle school students learning about linear equations and corresponds to the Indiana State Standard 8.3.1 for eighth grade math. Students can do a worksheet (provided) about car collisions. Some of the answers will be negative and/or require rounding. To help students visualize this topic, an activity is provided in which students race or collide remote-controlled cars and collect data and analyze the meaning of their results.
