Your Laptop's Dirty Little Secret - TIME - 0 views

  • Phones and computers contain dangerous metals like lead, cadmium and mercury, which can contaminate the air and water when those products are dumped. It's called electronic waste, or e-waste, and the world produces a lot of it: 20 to 50 million tons a year, according to the UN — enough to load a train that would stretch around the world. The U.S. is by far the world's top producer of e-waste, but much of it ends up elsewhere — specifically, in developing nations like China, India and Nigeria, to which rich countries have been shipping garbage for years.

Is E-Learning Producing Loner Youths - Swiflearn - 0 views

  •
https://swiflearn.com/blog/is-e-learning-producing-loner-youths/ E-learning is in fashion. And all is for a good reason. If done in the right way, it produces positive results. Online study is financially sounder, while it decreases the total cost. The performance of young scholars improves. Unlike traditional teaching sessions, online research, or the entire mode of online learning is much more beneficial. Most of us still do not appreciate the full value of e-learning. But, if done in the right way, online learning can give great results - Swiflearn.

Buy Pinterest Followers Introduction As a business owner, you are aware of the effectiveness of social media in attracting new clients. Also, you cannot afford to overlook Pinterest, which boasts over 200 million monthly users. But where do you begin? How do you grow your Pinterest following and expose your pins to a wider audience? How to organically grow your Pinterest following? To get you started, consider these suggestions: Develop excellent content: Invest time in producing infographics and visuals of the highest caliber for your area. In this manner, your pins will appear when people search for themes associated with your company. Buy Pinterest Followers Make use of keywords: Include keywords in your pin descriptions to ensure that they appear when users perform searches using those phrases. Join group boards: Group boards are a fantastic way to increase the visibility of your pins. But be careful to only sign up for forums that are relevant to your industry. Repining other people's content promotes your brand while also being a good gesture. They will receive an email message when you repin their content. They'll probably look at your profile and perhaps follow you as well. Why should you grow your Pinterest following? You could wish to grow your Pinterest audience for a variety of reasons. First off, your potential reach increases as your fan base does. Your post will be shared and repinned by more people if you have more followers, which will increase its visibility. Also, the more eyes on your material, the more probable it is that you will create leads and sales. Buy Pinterest Followers Second, having a bigger following might help you establish credibility and trust. People are more likely to trust you and your brand if you appear to have a large following. This is because they'll perceive you as influential and realize that, since so many people are following you, you must be doing something well. There are people pursuing you. Finally, expand

No up-front costs to sell music on Audiolife | Webware - CNET - 1 views

  •
A GREAT EXAMPLE OF HOW WEB2.0 LETS US BE PRODUCERS AND NOT JUST CONSUMERS. Audiolife not only lets you create an online store to sell CDs and digital downloads, but it will actually manufacture the CDs for you, on-demand, as customers buy them. The up-front cost? Nothing. Zero dollars and zero cents. On-demand CD creation from Audiolife. (Credit: Audiolife) This is a big deal. As any self-financed musician knows, CD manufacturing is a big investment. Print runs for CDs with a jewel case and nice color insert generally start at 1,000 for close to $1,000, though you can get away with spending a few hundred bucks for a short run, if you're willing to pay quite a bit more per disc. This is all well and good, if you sell all of the CDs you print. If not, you're left with some expensive drink coasters.

The generation raised on the internet | The kids are alright | The Economist - 0 views

  •
WORRIES about the damage the internet may be doing to young people has produced a mountain of books-a suitably old technology in which to express concerns about the new. Robert Bly claims that, thanks to the internet, the "neo-cortex is finally eating itself". Today's youth may be web-savvy, but they also stand accused of being unread, bad at communicating, socially inept, shameless, dishonest, work-shy, narcissistic and indifferent to the needs of others.

10 Tips for Would-Be Podcasters - Lifehack.org - 0 views

  •
I started podcasting four months ago when I launched the first episode of Lifehack Live as part of Lifehack.org's podcast series. Although I'd been listening to podcasts for a couple of years already, and had some experience behind the deck in a recording studio (granted, it was 14 years ago), I really had no idea how to produce a podcast that people would want to listen to. (Some of you might say I still don't know how to do that….)

NSBA: Evaluating Digital Products - 0 views

  •
We watched an example of a student-produced film about the bombing of Hiroshima and discussed how we would assess it. It was difficult to say since we weren't the ones that gave the assignment, but it got the conversation started. Our speaker said that in many cases a scoring guide (i.e., rubric) isn't even provided, or the scoring guide focuses exclusively on the mechanics of the product (e.g., number of images, number of PowerPoint slides). Too often, she says, the product is simply turned in without the kind of serious assessment that we usually give to more traditional writing assignments. I've observed this over the years as well, and have often felt like technological glitz has been substituted for high quality content. This is especially common with teachers who may not be very technosavvy themselves and may be more likely to be overly impressed with the polish that modern ditial tools can impart without any effort on the part of the student.

You Look Under The Sink To Find A Leak With The Garbage Disposal Best Plumbing Services... - 0 views

  •
When you look under your sink and see a leak one of the first things that is assumed is time to get new garbage disposal, but this isn't the case. For the most part, if you are leaking around your disposal it is because of a faulty plumbing pipe or poor installation. So check the plumbing and the mounting hardware mounting to the sink itself. If you notice you're still having the leaks it's the time to get in touch with your local plumbing services. Many homeowners have the luxury of having garbage disposal to help make cleaning dishes easier, along with keeping the pipes clear of large food particles. Some may have never thought about getting a garbage disposal until they bought their first house which just happened to have one. This was the case for myself (You can call Best Plumbing Services in USA). I happen to see random light switch by the sink (Being young at the time, not knowing) and turned it on. I then heard this loud growl yell at me from the sink. This was my first run with garbage disposal. Having a garbage disposal has been great but can put you in a panic if you start to have some issues. When problems arise you can start to notice strange smells coming from the sink. You can notice when you flip the power switch you don't hear the disposal running, or you notice that water is continuing to clog. What we have here is 5 simple solutions that you can try to help get your garbage disposal back in operation, before you decide to go out and purchase a new one or call on that Best Plumbing Services in USA AKA the professionals. Yes this is a quick DIY for you. There Is A Clogged Garbage Disposal One of the first misconception of a garbage disposal is that it has blades so it can eat through anything. Though yes there are extreme safety precautions (LIKE DON'T PUT YOUR HAND IT THERE WHILE RUNNING) I will share with you the not so obvious things that you should avoid putting in disposal. The list here; oil, grease, or any nonfood item. Though
