Presenting UpsideLMS Version 4.0 | Upside Learning Blog - 1 views

  • Today we reach a significant milestone as we release UpsideLMS Version 4.0 - a comprehensive, fully-featured learning management system delivered on a robust, scalable and reliable architecture. It’s extremely satisfying for me personally as the chief architect of the system since its first release.  Here I am sharing a quick overview of what’s new in Version 4.0 and I encourage you to take a tour OR a trial and let me know of your thoughts on the latest version of our product.
  •
UpsideLMS Version 4.0 now comes in two variants (that run on the same robust and scalable architecture) - UpsideLMS Professional and UpsideLMS Enterprise. UpsideLMS Professional is designed and packaged specifically for SMBs and Training companies where the need for an LMS is to efficiently manage learning data, large number and churn of users and the need to quickly configure training with a high degree of flexibility. Additionally, it meets the needs of training companies for an easy way to manage multiple customers through a single system that include licensing and branding control and to have an eCommerce module. UpsideLMS Enterprise is for large enterprises that need the LMS to manage learning within the context of an organizational hierarchy, and tight links to a competency framework; they also tend to require solutions that are scalable.

The End of Techno-Critique: The Naked Truth about 1:1 Laptop Initiatives and Educationa... - 18 views

  •
This article responds to a generation of techno-criticism in education. It contains a review of the key themes of that criticism. The context of previous efforts to reform education reframes that criticism. Within that context, the question is raised about what schools need to look and be like in order to take advantage of laptop computers and other technology. In doing so, the article presents a vision for self-organizing schools.

There are of course a few gifted speakers who can hold the audience's attention for a full hour and keep most of them listening and awake. If like me you're not one of those, then here are a few tools that, thanks to the increasing availability of wireless connectivity at conference centres these days, might help to turn your passive listeners into a bunch of multitasking audience collaborators.

simplebooklet.com - 40 views

I'm excited about the possibilities this site might have for our school, especially as we're trying to be "greener" in our project choices. The booklets seem very simple to create (you're able to add images, files, backgrounds, text, video, embed code, webpages, music and your own code), are saved in the cloud, and can be published in MANY different ways, all without having to print a single sheet of paper! (actually the print function isn't available yet, but they're working on it.) For students: "Create reports, project portfolios, presentations, book reviews, papers, and more. Leverage your expertise with Internet technologies by adding multiple content elements to your project. Your teacher will appreciate the dynamic and engaging experience." For teachers: "Engage students with class newsletters, creative writing exercises, and school projects using simplebooklet. No more lost reports or "I'm almost done" excuses. A simplebooklet is stored in the cloud so you can always find it, even the half completed ones. Simplebooklet is based on the middlespot architecture, so authoring a booklet is a snap. Simple add tools allow a student to quickly upload almost anything to their booklet page. Then drag and drop tools allow for easy formatting and styling. Since each element is saved as a separately, no single element will take down the entire booklet."

Microsoft: Windows 8 Not Present in 2012 - 0 views

  •
San Francisco - CEO Microsoft, Steve Ballmer confirmed it will launch Windows 8 in 2012. This was later denied by Microsoft officials. "There seems to be a false statement. We welcome the latest generation of Windows 7 which will come in the next year," wrote Microsoft, told ZDNet (5/29/2011). "In the meantime, we have not issued a formal announcement linked the name and time of arrival of Windows next generation," he added. Ballmer also use the 'Windows 8 ' operating system. "You will hear a lot about Windows 8, whether it is tablet, PC or other variations," said Ballmer. Microsoft reportedly ready to bring the tablet version of the Windows operating system next week, in an event. Microsoft does not comment on rumors. Especially after other newspapers said, the OS for the tablet will be holding a Tegra microprocessor.
