The Three-E Strategy for Overcoming Resistance to Technological Change If you just build it, they won't come-you need to shape users' behavior by acknowledging their world view rather than your own as a technology implementer
Getting Things Done Explained for Students - Getting Things Done - Lifehacker - 0 views

turn everything into an action

Way too many students think of an agenda or a planner as synonymous with a to-do list. It doesn't make any sense to write a new assignment down on a planner under a date—that's deadline-oriented thinking that just begs for procrastination.
-
This will probably consist mostly of questions you'd like to ask another student or the teacher.

Watertown Daily Times | Canton to block some access to Facebook - 3 views
-
"To my knowledge, no other district in our area allows access to Facebook," Mr. Gregory said. "I think the district needs to take a proactive approach. Today it's Facebook, a few months from now there could be something else that comes up."
-
The protests were sparked by a Canton high school social studies teacher who wanted his students to use their own Facebook page as a way to interact with each other for academic-related discussions
-
Opponents of that move argued the site can pose safety risks, wastes time and exposes students to unmonitored advertising messages.

Part of the Story While I was at ASCD 2008 in New Orleans in March 2008, I started a conversation with some ASCD Leadership Council members and my online network of educators about the need for educators familiar with Web 2.0 pedagogies to spread the word about how they are successfully using the new 21st Century technology to improve student learning. That conversation has continued until today, April 3, 2008. We have less than a month to pool our collective intelligence to help ASCD do a "bang up" job for it's membership in Orlando in March 2009 on technology and engaging students in learning. See the home page of this wiki for more details. Go here to read the conversation as it developed on Professional Development 2.0 from March 16, 2008 to April 3, 2008 when I then created this wiki. Join this wiki and help us develop a comprehensive proposal. In the process we will show how the online nextwork of educators works. If nothing else, at least that will be impressive. If you help out!

Thank you for connecting through Twitter. You have really hit the nail on the head that the Web 2.0 tools are not meeting mainstream, and I am right there, we need to change that!

I will admit that I'm an Apple fanatic. 4 years ago, I waited in live for 15 hours to get the iPhone 4 that I felt was going to be a game changer. While I won't be waiting in line again for the iPhone 6, I do think Apple's announcement last week was the biggest in years!
