When talking about technology and learning it's hard not to think about #elearning modules. They've been the bread and butter of #digitallearning solutions for decades and the industry behind them has helped many, including myself, feed our families. So I take no joy in predicting that elearning modules will inevitably be murdered.

Just finished submitting Feed Me: Motivating Newcomer Contribution in Social Network Sites ( PDF). The gist is that we analyzed a large group of newly registered FB users and counted all the things they did (or their friends did) in their first two weeks, and predicted how the newbies would behave three months later (how many photos they'd upload). We found that if their friends are uploading photos, they're more likely to, as well (no surprise). And early photo comments are good. But there are some surprises about tagging in there.

  Budget shortfalls prohibit purchasing newer technology or upgrading, but if we could tap the "cloud" and if web2.0 sites were unblocked in our district, older technology wouldn't be as much of a hindrance. There's too much paranoia about security.
