Storycaching is a proof-of-concept project combining GPS units, iPods, and laptop computers to create, store and share audio stories where absolute place is important. By using a GPS to locate a specific point on the earth and then listening to a podcast specific to that area, a new dimension in communication is created. Also, an artifact, trinket, or other symbolic object can be cached at that exact site adding a compelling relevance to the story. The experience could even include the podcast guiding the listener to the cache from the beginning point noted by the GPS. Once combined, the iPod and the GPS will recreate concept of sharing stories both in the capabilities of the storyteller and the expectations of the listener. via Brenda Muench

I'm excited about the possibilities this site might have for our school, especially as we're trying to be "greener" in our project choices. San Francisco - CEO Microsoft, Steve Ballmer confirmed it will launch Windows 8 in 2012. This was later denied by Microsoft officials. "There seems to be a false statement. We welcome the latest generation of Windows 7 which will come in the next year," wrote Microsoft, told ZDNet (5/29/2011). "In the meantime, we have not issued a formal announcement linked the name and time of arrival of Windows next generation," he added. Ballmer also use the 'Windows 8 ' operating system. "You will hear a lot about Windows 8, whether it is tablet, PC or other variations," said Ballmer. Microsoft reportedly ready to bring the tablet version of the Windows operating system next week, in an event. Microsoft does not comment on rumors. Especially after other newspapers said, the OS for the tablet will be holding a Tegra microprocessor.
