Enough is Enough! | Learning, Teaching and ICT - 0 views

  •
This is one of our class blogs where ads have been appearing recently. The class teacher contacted me for advice and I suggested that the school could sign up to be an edublogs supporter and then there would be no more ads appearing on their site. I also pointed out that if any other teachers were keen to set up a class blog, then their blogs could be included in the school's 'ad free' package. The school is happy to do that and the problem will be resolved soon.

education2020 » Filtering - 0 views

Should the web be filtered in schools? If yes then where is the line? David Gilmour (East Lothian) First, all social s/w sites are not the same. Distinguish blogs/wikis from Bebo etc as a first step. Next establish that Web2 is now mainstream. Queen, GB have Youtube sites, not just happy slappers. Have a paper I did on this... Ben Plouviez (Scottish Government, personal capacity) Some very random thoughts: this is an area where I think we should make waves, and I'd like to understand more about how filtering works (or doesn't) in local authorities and schools.

Consolarium » Fantastic learning in P.2 via Nintendogs - 0 views

  •
A previous blogpost talked of the Nintendogs project that we initiated in two P.2 classes up in Aberdeenshire. I managed to arrange a visit there in order to capture (video, audio and image) all the practice that we could for case study presentation. Unsure of what we were going to find, we made our way up to that beautiful part of Scotland full of hope and anticipation that the practice that we would see would be something special.

BETT '09: 2Simple do it again with 2DIY It's that time of year again when we get a chance to see the range of wonderful (and not so wonderful) educational resources on show at BETT. This years's event is as huge as ever but with the noteable exceptions of the BBC and Apple it appears. Drat, I always like to use their electric guitars with Garageband!

Using Nintendo DS in education? - 0 views

  •
I work at a school who are looking to use the Nintendo DS and some of the educational software with students to help boost things like basic literacy and numeracy skills. I am basically asking for help from anyone who has experience with this software or experience of using DSs in a school environment... What is the potential of this project? I would welcome any advice ranging from suitable software available to the logistics of looking after and charging a class set. ... Can feedback from a class set of DSs be sent to a teacher?
