A social video sharing site similar to YouTube, but I think it's a little more kid friendly.

The website for my favorite screen casting app. Easy to use with pupils and great opportunities to use is across the curriculum. The website has lots of support and videos my 5th graders used to learn how to use the app.

This video shows George Siemens describing connectivism in a conference setting. He describes the difference between the traditional systems of learning our students participate in where they hear and repeat content and what he terms a "meaningful" learning experience.

This is a YouTube video of George Siemens discussing his ideas about networks, connections, and social learning. Siemens suggests we should, "Emphasize connections... and not networks." If we wish to understand learning we need to understand how connections form, and why.

This wonderful research network is dedicated to highlighting research about "learning that is socially connected, interest-driven, and oriented towards educational opportunity. " There are many videos and research papers that highlight examples of personal learning networks and communities of practice. Fascinating information here and lots of it!

Mimi Ito discusses how children are using digital media and the learning that goes on as they hang around and geek out - informal learning. She explores the role education can play in this and the role of the adult and how to support their engagement. She discusses the difference between friendship driven activities online and interest driven activities and the opportunities for learning in those spaces (personal networks). It looks at ways that these could be linked to school-based activities.

I like the comments made near the start of the video that the digital media and communication in which children are engaging is no different from the personal networks that have been formed in generations past. It serves the same purpose in their development, socially and academically.

Some of my take aways from this video are: "social relations are important for learning." "The mediated environment isn't so different from when we were trying to get our daughter off the phone or our son to come in." "How can we be more active in connecting the informal learning with learning." Let "Sts reflect and not just consume." Ideas are along the same lines as others in this field. As an educator I want to have students participating in student centered learning, but come up against road blocks admin and district don't understand.

This video is dedicated to developing an understanding of the property and applications of the connectivism learning theory.

This is a good basic video that covers connectivism. It discusses the theory as well as the necessary elements.

The video by Bruce Knox helped me to reacquaint myself with Communities of Practice. I like how he explains the parts to consider and if one already exists.

Very clearly laid out. I like the way it defines a community of practice and the purpose. And the three areas that need to be developed: the community, domain and practice. Communities of practices are not created but rather are fostered - nice differentiation.

Video sharing what and why we want Communities of Practice. This class could be considered a CoP, we are grouping together with similar interests, to share ideas and get better at what we do.

This is a short video that may help one grasp Connectivism and how it applies to students in the classroom.

I like how this worked with a specific student and gave an example of how Connectivism helped that student. I also found it helpful to see Connectivism compared to Behaviorism, Cognitivism, and Constructionism.

This is a blog post summarizing the annual ISTE conference in, I think, 2011. I really love the video here. It is of a 7th graders experience with her PLN. It shows how simple, fun, and rewarding a PLN can be.

I adore Rita Pierson! I can't decide if I wish she was my teacher, my colleague or my administrator...one thing I know for sure, I wish she were my friend! This is my go to video when I need a reminder about why I do what I do. I hope you enjoy her as much as I do.

I have used this with my staff before. She is amazing, inspirational. She is talking directly about my students at my school. She is so right about how students don't learn from people they don't like. When you empower a student they will soar. School is all about building relationships, not just lessons and standards.
