I recently just started integrating Evernote with writing my lesson plans and lecture notes. In my classes I have a mixed bag of students. Some of my students have varying degrees of IEPs. For along time students who needed audiobook publisher support, to have the chapter notes read to them were bound by 1. The book we were using in class and if it had that type of support and 2. What the publisher thought was important to include in the audio, which often does not provide alternate examples for the concepts the student are trying to learn. With the record Evernote feature I have a simple and easy way to integrate audio and send my recorded lecture notes, examples and recorded exam questions to the students that need this type of alternative learning experience . I'm aware there are other resources where this was possible. Evernote just happens to be in my opinion the best one stop app to write a lecture ,integrate pictures,graphics and audio to effectively reach my entire class. Dr. Steven Yuen presents on the use of Diigo in classrooms. Notably, faculty members can use Diigo to comment and provide feedback on sticky notes that students have made in Diigo, on both their research and projects.

I love this idea.  It's a college class, but it could easily be adapted to a high school environment.  The back channel in online education provides a rich source for learning.  If this could be implemented in brick and mortar with twitter, then this would be great.

A K-12 district, the Tri-Creek School Corp., has implemented a one-to-one laptop initiative for middle and high school students, allowing them to use social media for their school work. They are using Edmodo and Google Apps to submit assignments, leave notes for teachers, ask questions, and comment on each other's work.

While it is short, and doesn't offer much in the analysis or theory market, this article offers 4 additional resources for finding PLNs to join. Three of the four resources mentioned were new to me, but the information included about Twitter does help explain why the platform is great for PLNs (just in case anyone is knew to Twitter). One thing to note about these sources is that each is free and may also include a paid option for additional resources.

An important component of understanding connectivism is to never assume that those who do not show overt involvement are not as engaged as those who do.

Research primarily focused on exploring how online learners aggregate, relate, create, and share information. Noting that connections are made with people and/or resources. And that putting learners in charge of directing their own experience is dependent on confidence and competence with the tools at hand. When comfortable navigating the terrain of the internet, there is intrinsic motivation that results from steering your own learning.

Etienne Wenger discusses elements of Communities of Practice, with a focus on the private sector. Though the discussion is pertinent to all uses of CoP. Noted as a crucial component is how the community is managed by facilitators, for that is who is ultimately responsible for caring for the domain of information. And who must know what the group needs in order to prosper. Where the information is being shared by peers to address questions and challenges in common. While interactions among community members include cultural and structural components, there is space for each participant to realize their identity through connections and engagement

Presents a rather critical approach to Youtube as an educational tool. Explains that online video library is mostly maintained by a fan base as opposed to deliberate or intentional facilitation. This reduces its credibility as a teaching tool and lacks cohesive curriculum. It is asserted that if learning is encountering what you don't know, then Youtube is not effective for learning as users search their existing interests and for entertainment. Another noted disadvantage is that viewing and commenting on Youtube videos may provide marketing data and potentially undermines student privacy.

I use Evernote frequently for personal and school notes and organization. This is a great site showing how educators are using this tool in classrooms.

Internet resources to organize students, encourage student collaboration, take notes, and prepare for exams.

Students take collaborative notes in Today's Meet. This way they get some of the things they may have missed and are able to ask clarifying questions. Students can use Today's Meet as a backchannel discussion for in class discussions, small group discussions, collaboration, etc, and then download the transcript as a more permanent record.
