This site builds on the PLN that Cathy has helped all of us to start developing. It has a wealth of videos and resources that explore the application of social media in education. It is a place where educators can contribute and learn about effective uses of SM in education.

Great site, Christine. I found a video by Alan November, one of the true gurus and prophets regarding technology. Every Cometeer should watch his video about the emerging classroom. This is one of my all time favorite blogs discovered during Karl's class last semester. I've shared it with a few other Cometeers, who have reaped the benefits of the blog's great resources for online teaching and learning. As Distant Learning students you don't always want to request a classroom, and in this case when you have group projects, this is a great tool. If you haven't seen this YouTube video, you must. It is a collection of AT&T television ads from 1993 predicting the impact of future technologies on our lives. It is amazingly insightful with one exception: phone booths! Don't forget, the world wide web was in its infancy in 1993 with a minute number of sites that the general public knew little or nothing about. Anyone recognize the narrator's voice?

I know we have been using the phrase "web 2.0" during the EDTEC program, but I was still having difficulty understanding the full scope of the term. This video is short and simple, explaining both the regular and technical aspects of "web 2.0."

I liked this article, yet it is frustrating because these are all the obvious reasons are education system is so bad in the US, yet the chances of them being fixed ANYTIMe soon are slim.

One teacher's experience using Facebook and Twitter in the classroom.

Great ideas for Facebook and Twitter. However, these two resources are on a lengthy list of things blocked and banned by my district. A continual frustration for me as a teacher is how often decisions are made based on fear, not on policy. The district isn't afraid of the resource, they are afraid of the parent phone call.

This is a behaviorist instruction machine! Smile (behavior) and get a reward (ice cream). I love it!

It's a GREAT example! I really like the "smile-o-meter" function .. Kind of a behavior modification feature. Now, if we could find a cognitive and constructivist example as great as this one!

My principal asked me to attend Apple's Summer Semester Session for Language Arts through iTunesU and it was great! I just received an email from them letting those who attended know that the session is now online for everyone to view.
