How Flipped Classrooms Change from Schools to Colleges Infographic - e-Learning Infogra... - 4 views

  •
Both K12 and higher education classes can be adapted to flipped classrooms. In this infographic, flipped classrooms applied for two education levels are compared with regard to some criteria. While there are more research studies on flipped learning for higher education than ones for K12, it is interesting to see that while 78% of school teachers flipped one lesson in 2014, only 29% of college instructors tried flipping a class.

Punya Mishra- Keynote - 0 views

This is the video about Punya Mishra as a keynote speaker at 21st century learning conference in Hong Kong in 2012. There is an interesting point in his speech that we use email for different purposes such as to remember things, to store something and so on. However, email was not designed for those purposes. We created those uses. Technology usage is a little connected with creativity.

Learning activities and assessment tools for qualitative TPACK studies - 4 views

  •
In this website, learning activities to plan instruction for different subject areas and tools to assess evidence of teachers' knowledge for technology integration such as "Technology Integration Assessment Rubric" and "Technology Integration Observation Instrument" are shared. I think they can be quite beneficial for designing qualitative TPACK research.
  •
Ecenaz, thank you for sharing this useful website. I liked that they match activities and strategies with possible technologies and stages together in detail. It might be a guide for a T-pack based instruction design or for our class project on T-pack.
  •
Thank you Ecenaz for this good and useful website. It is related with the topic of week four. Moreover, "Technology Integration Assessment Rubric" and "Technology Integration Observation Instrument" are mentioned in Archambault's article.

Computers 'do not improve' pupil results, says OECD - BBC News - 1 views

  •
Investing heavily in school computers and classroom technology does not improve pupils' performance, says a global study from the OECD. The think tank says frequent use of computers in schools is more likely to be associated with lower results. The OECD's education director Andreas Schleicher says school technology had raised "too many false hopes".
  •
I think the report does not show that technology is useless, but shows that we still need enourmous work on learning and teaching effective use of it. Here is another piece of news showing many teachers use technology for teacher-centered, traditional education. It brought my mind the concept of "teacher effect" that we talked in the class. " Why Ed Tech Is Not Transforming How Teachers Teach" http://www.edweek.org/ew/articles/2015/06/11/why-ed-tech-is-not-transforming-how.html?cmp=ew-tc15-eml&utm_content=buffer3067c&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Integrating Technology with Limited Resources - 1 views

OK, so you know about all of these great tools out there that can transform teaching and learning in your classroom but all you have is an ancient PC in the corner of your room. How can you effectively integrate technology with this dinosaur? Hopefully this post will help.
  •
Thanks Hatice, The link provides some onlinetools and some strategies to use them. I have now added this to my bookmarks since I was already looking for online tools for sharing, communication, collaboration and reflection for my classes. Edublogs and Typewith.me seem to be pretty exciting to use :)

This is a research study carried out in Turkey. To assess pre-service English as a foreign language teachers' technological pedagogical content knowledge, Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge Scale was used and students were asked to answer some open-ended questions. The results of the study revealed a highly developed knowledge of TPACK among undergraduate students of an ELT program at a public university in Turkey. Developing and validating technological pedagogical content knowledge-practical (TPACK-... - 4 views

This is the abstract of a research study . In this study they invited a research panel (six researchers) and an expert panel (54 science-related educators) to propose and validate the framework of TPACK-practical. They applied two rounds of anonymous communications and Delphi survey techniques; identified a total of eight dimensions of TPACK-practical and corresponding indicators and rated them as having high levels of importance. They found disciplinary differences between the different groups of experts. Their findings suggest that the structure and content of subject matter shapes not only the way they teach with technology but also the thinking logics they build longitudinally from their learning experiences
  •
While I was doing research on TPACK, I saw that validity of TPACK-practical model was examined in Turkish context. In that study, it was revealed that the adapted form of the survey exhibited the same item-factor harmony and structure as the original form. There are many data collection tools regarding TPACK, but they measure components of TPACK (PK, CK, TK, TPK, TCK, PCK, TPCK) separately. In this study, a reliable and valid scale was developed to measure TPCK component, which is the intersection point of three main components. It was found that TPCK component consists of four constructs/dimensions. They are design, exertion, proficiency and ethics.

Undergraduate Students & Technology - BachelorsDegreeOnline.com - 5 views

In this infographic we can see what devices can be most important to academic success for undergraduate students and their contribution percentages to success. Also, for what they are using those devices can be seen such as accessing syllabi and using course management systems, as we are also doing currently, and checking their grades. In addition, we can easily say that taking a class completely online is getting higher year by year. One of the interesting points of this infographic for me is that students said technology helps them feel connected to other students and their instructors and what's going on at the institution.
  •
I like this infographic, it is speaking with data. It shows the most common devices used and also the applications. I think when we think the fast development of technology, this is a good representation.

The Importance of Technology in Education - 2 views

This infographic presents 5 benefits of using technology in teacher education. One of the benefits that I found interesting was "technology reduces weight". I agree with this benefit a lot. Since I am a commuter as a doctoral student, I feel this benefit deeply. I used to carry huge handbooks and articles for a single presentation or a class reading. I now carry my iPad and use my cloud account on my tech tools, and read everywhere. I feel more comfortable and mobile now with the reduced weight and the less paper.

I like your choice which is simple but clearly describes what the benefits of using technology in the classroom :)

Pros and Cons of Social Media in Education (Infographic) - 6 views

  •
This infographic shows how universities use social media, which websites used for what purposes, and advantanges and difficulties of using social media. I found it to be very comprehensive. We also see that today social media is mostly used for practical purposes ,such as; announcement from schools, material share and networking in educational context. Challanges stated are woth to consider before attempting to use social media in education.
  •
This is a nice infographic. Nowadays the universities are even recruiting social media experts to manage their image on the virtual world. A 2-min-video might become viral and add a lot to the popularity of the university. Or prospective students check the information available about a university on social media channels before making a career choice.
