This is our paper with Hakan Hoca (my master advisor) about Fatih Project. It discusses how we can implement a technology-rich learning environment and whether we can implement in schools involved in FATİH Project
I think in virtual schools teacher's role is not same as face-to-face instruction, instead a guidance interacting with students socially. In this role, teacher challenges with dialogue and interaction. New skills and knowledge require for this role of teacher such as delivering content with operating technology, external aspects of learning related to technology and internal cognitive aspects of learning (Gunawardena and McIsaac, 2003). Also, teacher should provide appropriate instruction in terms of numbers of students (Gunawardena and McIsaac, 2003).
