    This is a great site for all teachers. It deals with bullying, violence prevention, and personal safety in the schools. This site is excellent for help with enacting the safe school movement. Many of the activities are geared toward elementary and middle school aged children. Some of the resources, such as downloadable brochures, are free. Teachers can use these resources to make their schools a safer place and to reduce bullying.

    This website is about teaching character. With so many lessons to teach, why should we teach character? Possibly because it's the most important concept a student could learn. This site promotes what it calls the 6 Pillars of Character and has a week in October dedicated to building character. It has lessons available and suggestions for using character education in the classroom.

Teachers can also download printables, lesson plans, and classroom management information. There is even a section to help first year teachers. This site does have subscription fee ($39.95/year) and has a 7-day free trial available.

    This website is an excellent resource for all teachers. With the use of mainstreaming, almost all teachers have at least one ESE student in their day. This website is an excellent resource for dealing with learning disabilities. It has links for parents, teachers, and kids to help them to understand different exceptionalities. LD Online is run by the National Joint Committee on Learning Disabilities and has many articles written by doctoral level specialists.

    SAVE is a website about preventing violence among students. It has many resources for ideas about preventing violence among children and teens. It also boasts a student advisory board that works on new ways to prevent violence. The tools on this website can be useful to interact with students to move toward safe schools.

    Youth Change is a website devoted to helping educators and other "youth professionals" solve problems with kids. It has many articles and tips available for free. It also has links to live chats and in-person workshops. E-books are also available for download from this site. The site is mostly commercial but has excellent free resources available and some of the paid resources may also be a worthwhile investment.

    This is a great site for learning about using democracy in the classroom. Alfie Kohn has written many innovative books on classroom management and ways to involve students in classroom management decisions. This site not only gives you the opportunity to order his books, but you can also use it to read articles and find additional information about his theory. This site can be extremely useful for a teacher looking to implement the ideas of removing rewards and punishments and moving toward greater democracy.

    American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities http://www.aamr.org/. This site does not deal specifically with classroom management. It does, however, address many of the issues that are faced in schools on a daily basis. This is an incredible resource for teachers working with students with developmental disabilities. This site can give teachers and parents professional help in understanding their students' disorders which will lead to better classroom management.

This website is an amazing resource for anyone who is managing a classroom with special needs students. All articles, unless otherwise noted, are written by Leslie E. Packer, Ph.D. She has a variety of articles that include information on disorders and behavior problems. The behavior issues page helps teachers to differentiate between behavior problems and actions resulting from the disorder.

Dr. Shore has a Ph.D. from Rutgers University in Psychology. He provides practical information on how to deal with different classroom management issues through is articles "Classroom Problem Solver." This particular article focuses on a particularly difficult topic: Unmotivated Students. I have found personally that this is one of the most difficult issues to deal with. Dr. Shore promotes the philosophy of using positive reinforcements to show students that they can accomplish academic success.
