    I would hate to see tenure changes made that would punish teachers for poor test performance by students. There are too many factors that play in to how children perform on tests that are completely unrelated to the classroom.

    This is going to sound stupid but what is teacher tenure? Is teacher tenure like when a teacher has been teaching at the same school for like 20 years and has a lower chance of getting laid off verses someone that has only been teaching like a year?

    This article is about a year old, but it is still very interesting because technology has progressed the ability for students with exceptionalities to participate within mainstream classrooms. Students who in the past were forced to only learn in specialized environments are now able to communicate and work in mainstream classes due to assistive technologies and other computer programs that fall under universal design allowing all types of students to learn from.

    This article just makes it clear that the use of I-CAN is really a great tool for classrooms. This tool makes it easy for children to communicate with others and be independent with their own projects. It allows creativity and that is something we need more of in the classrooms.

    My son who is in the 7th grade disagrees with the evaluation of Study Island. He finds it to be boring with crude graphics. The one benefit to Study Island however, is a student can practice from home if he or she choses to.

    I have spent many hours with students as they work on Study Island, and I believe that they aren't as enthusiastic about the program as adults are. What I have noticed from the teachers is that Study Island is a good babysitter and a way to kill time. I'm not so sure I would give the program credit for boosting test scores.

    I have had nothing but bad experiences with study island. Much like many things, the idea is better than the reality. Even though the system "times out" when the computer senses the student is guessing, the students just take a ten second break then get right back to guessing.

    I think the assessment part of the article can be very helpful for teachers. If teachers have time to use software and programs to calculate grades and keep track of student progress that would save time and be very helpful. this could help parents, as well. Sometimes schools provide things like that for teachers to use.

    I would have loved to have all the technology we do now when I was younger. Kids can "travel" across the world without leaving their seats. They can meet and interact with new people from various regions. Technology has changed the way kids learn.
