This is an older article. I have used the response clickers in classrooms before and I find them to be extremely effective. They can be integrated to the SMART board and students can use them for formative and summative assessments. The clickers can be expensive, but there is a grant available in Ohio to get the response clickers - the sixth grade science teacher at Amanda wrote a grant proposal and was awarded a set for her classroom.

This article has a personal connection to me - this is the vocational school that services the students in the school district where I live. I think it's amazing that the students can complete an entire semester of work without using a pen or pencil and paper. I wonder what the implications on the students will be. Personally, I couldn't work on a screen all day. I like to flip the pages in a book I am reading. I also like to be able to reference material that I am working with quickly and find that I can do so faster on paper. I think this just goes to show that these students, only 10 years younger than myself, are an entire technological generation ahead of me. What will be difficult is keeping up with the technology when I am a teacher.

I thought this article was interesting because it talks about the teacher giving up some of his own time to let the students come in and work on their projects. It is fair to say that some students do not have access to technology at home, especially with the sensitive diagnostic tools mentioned in this article. Allowing the students to have an open lab time to come in on their own time to complete their work is really awesome. Kudos to this teacher.
