"Earlier this month non-profit organisations and companies including Google, Mozilla, Yahoo, and Reddit united to organise a day of action called Reset the Net. The event marked the first anniversary of Edward Snowden's revelations about the National Security Administration's extensive and illegal dragnet surveillance apparatus."
"BYOD isn't a recommendation, it's a realty. Everyone's bought one and everyone uses one and everyone carries it around with them. When we organise a meeting or conference, we don't send people an email telling them what device to bring, neither do we buy or lease a whole load of computers and hand them out."

"I helped to organise a mini-unconference for a university class. It was to be something that would give other teachers a broad idea how these events work and how interactive devices can help."

Too often a student's digital literacy experience is limited by what their teacher can do. How often do we hear "I can't do eLearning unless I get adequate PD first".

"According to research by Porn Harms, a US organisation, the average age of children's exposure to pornography is 11, but parents and professionals are dealing with exposure issues of children much younger."
"It's creepy to think that you're being stalked. But how much creepier is it that a group of people sit around a long table analysing information on your Facebook profile in order to decide whether you're worthy of a job in their organisation?
Not only are we told that this repugnant practice occurs but it's promoted as a reality in the education system."

The irony of the title not lost on this writer as the real intention of the event run by Film Victoria (a traditional film funding organisation) was commendable - finally focus on 'users', 'watchers', 'participants' aka as old school 'audiences'. Most of the talks explored new marketing, basic demography and obligatory future trends with a couple of inspirational 'write for your inner audience' highlight talks from the likes of Jane 'buffy/BSG' Espenson, but I was asked to look at the social and transmedia aspects that affect and impact on audiences/communities so below is:
