Tweet Binder allows you to search for a hashtag and add that collection of tweets to a 'binder'. You can then search for keywords within that list of tweets. This could be a useful tool if you are following a key story via a hashtag. The free tool also offers analytics so you can see contributors (people who tweeted with that hashtag) and the potential reach of the tweets.

We got so many additions and updates to our 2011 list we thought it was time to bring you the most up-to-date list for 2012. So, without further ado, here's the 2012 A-Z list of educational Twitter hashtags. We went through all the comments on the 2011 version, wrote down all the Twitter and Facebook updates, and compiled this list over the course of several months. A comical take on #hashtags

"Unfortunately, an impending disaster is sometimes the impetus for naysayers to see the worth of a service like Twitter. The hashtag being used on Twitter to track the tweets referring to Tropical Cyclone Yasi is #tcyasi. I've been following this hashtag today, and as the cyclone gets closer to the east coast of Far North Queensland, I am receiving more pertinent information there than what I am getting from news organisations like Channel 7 and their very sensationalist Today Tonight program."

A decidedly low tech device, the humble pencil, is providing some tongue-in-cheek insight into current education debates via Twitter. In the past 24 hours, educators have tweeted the hashtag #pencilchat thousands of times. The tweets are undeniably witty, but they also reflect the frustration teachers feel over everything from schools' technophobia to budget cuts, which may make #pencilchat the best-and most clever-education allegory ever.
