New research suggests that millions of Americans currently live in regions that would be inundated by rising oceans if global temperatures continue to rise. The major remaining question isn't whether such change is coming, but rather how quickly it will come, says researcher Benjamin Strauss. "The question is, how long is the fuse and has it been lit yet?" he says.

Marks & Spencer has launched Plan A 2025, a new three-pillar sustainability strategy that aims to support 1,000 communities, help 10 million people live happier, healthier lives, and move the company closer to becoming a zero-waste business. Under the strategy, the company has also committed to reducing operational GHG emissions 80% by 2030, sourcing all of its key raw materials sustainably by 2025, ensuring all of its packaging is 'widely recyclable' by 2022, and more.

A cap-and-trade bill proposed last month by California state Sen. Bob Wieckowski also would set aside hundreds of millions of dollars for the California Climate and Clean Energy Research Fund. The bill is headed to a Senate committee hearing, which hasn't yet been scheduled.

Kimberly-Clark will feature the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) logo on its Forest Stewardship Council- certified products to raise consumer awareness about the importance of choosing products made from responsibly sourced fiber. As part of the partnership, the company will contribute $4 million to WWF's forest and ecosystem protection programs.

Transportation company Uber announced its Clean Air Plan, which aims to transition its UK-based "uberX" drivers to 100% hybrid or fully electric vehicles by the end of 2022. As part of the plan, Uber has contributed £2 million toward a dedicated fund that allows its UK-based drivers to "access up to £5,000 towards the cost of upgrading their car to a hybrid or fully electric vehicle." The company will also add a fee to every ride taken through the app in London to grow the fund and extend access to more drivers, with plans to add a similar fee in other UK cities over the next year.

There are a projected $35 million in cost savings over the initial contract term through 2023. Industrial customers benefit from considerable cost savings using reclaimed water by lowering operating costs of chemicals and labor.

A group of six companies - including Dell and Kimberly-Clark - have signed on to the WRI- and WWF-led Corporate Renewable Energy Buyers' Principles. The Buyers' Principles now have 70 corporate signatories, representing over 53 million MWh of annual demand by 2020.

Dubai will spend millions of dirhams on incentives to have 42,000 electric vehicles (EVs) on the emirate's streets by 2030. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) and the Road Transport Authority (RTA) on Sunday announced four incentives to help increase the number of plug-in cars, from free public parking and charging to toll-fee exemption and discounts on the plug-in car's registration.

A coalition of major corporations including Walmart, Target, Kellogg, Dell, The LEGO Group and more than 100 others reduced the combined carbon emissions of their supply chains by 633 million tons of carbon dioxide and saved $19.3 billion for their companies in 2018, according to a new report from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

REI announced that it would roll out rigorous sustainability standards across its supply chain. The more than 1,000 brands that can be currently found on REI's stores or its web site, insists the co-op, will "make it easier for millions of outdoor enthusiasts to choose more sustainable products."

Hulu is in the process of migrating its data centers to a 100% renewable energy facility in Las Vegas operated by multi-tenant data center provider Switch. The video-on-demand company says the move will eliminate 265,000 carbon tons of emissions from the environment while powering millions of stable and secure streams a week.

Producing the meat that goes into US pet foods results in 64 million tons of greenhouse gases each year, according UCLA's Gregory Okin. The geographer's newly published study encourages less-meaty or plant-based pet foods.

Italian meat processor and producer Inalca SpA's projects to reduce water and energy use at its plant in Rieti, Italy, resulted in annual savings of 3.7 million gallons of water and more than $72,000.

MillerCoors used new tools and irrigation initiatives, along with increased brewing efficiencies, that helped the brewing giant reduce its water consumption by 15 billion gallons in 2016, the company announced today. Wet weather also contributed to the 2016 reduction, the company acknowledged. MillerCoors used 16.9% less water compared to 2015 - equivalent to more than 500 million kegs of beer.

Mayors of 52 of the world's megacities, representing more than 275 million citizens, have called upon G20 leaders to address climate change at the upcoming G20 Summit. In a joint statement, members of the C40 network urged the G20 to work closely with cities towards creating a more sustainable future.

Hershey has redesigned its display cases in such a way that by 2025, they will have reduced packaging material by 25 million pounds, the company says. The new display case is a one-piece design with no cover packaging. It also eliminates the center divider. With these and other changes, the cases use 32% less material, Hershey says. The cases also use about 62% less time to open and set up.
