This is me thinking out loud, before I forget this, again... Spirits are sentient pieces of the Fade. The Fade is, to some extent, controlled by the desires of those within it. If one expects to see a demon, even if one sees a spirit, one will believe it is a demon.

I have a real problem with the location of Skyhold and would be interested in hearing your thoughts about it: Shouldn't it be impossible to feed all these people (and horses too) in the middle of some freezing mountains?
