Timeline for the "shortest Blight" calculations... - 0 views

  •
Timeline for the "shortest Blight" calculations with dates instead of relative time. Again, click the image for a full-size version. World of Thedas says that the Blight started in 9:30 and ended in 9:31, so this is a calculation of the date you need to start the origin to have the Blight end on Firstday 9:31 if you finish it as quickly as possible.

Zevran's Canon Timeline - 1 views

  •
It took me a while to gather everything (you can find all this info at the bottom of my profile tab) and there are still some dates that are rather vague, but everything here is taken from in the game, the game years are used as comparison or are directly pulled from the World of Thedas book. Hope everyone enjoys! And of course if you have canon knowledge that can be added with more specific dates, let me know and toss me the source! :D

Converting Thedosian Dates - 0 views

I'm going to be looking for this later... Chantry ages to Tevinter: Drop the colon. Add 1094. Tevinter to Chantry: Subtract 1094.If it's more than 100, count two numbers in from the right and stick a colon, because you're in the Divine Age or better. If it's less than 100, subtract 100, because the Divine Age is 1, not 0, and you're in the Ancient Age.Chantry to Elvish: Drop the colon.

Dragon Age Media Timeline - 1 views

  •
(So over a year ago I was trying to dig as deeply in to the Dragon Age lore as I could having beaten the first two games after their release. In the process I searched high and low for a timeline that put every bit of media in to chronological order as that was how I wanted to tackle it and to help see the big picture. I found one that was out of date and inaccurate so I ended up making one of my own and updated it as I checked out everything first hand. So after using it for my own reference for quite some time I decided to put it on here. This is what I've managed to come up with so far. Any suggestions or questions are welcome. I'll update this as new information comes forward. This includes all related media that I could find, and goes off of the most recent official information that I can gather in game and out.)

Tevinter Archons in Chronological Order - 0 views

  •
So, I just got tired of trying to figure out which Archon went when, and I went down the list and put them in order, where the dates of their reigns were noted. And then where they weren't noted, I made some guesses based on the order of historical events (those are marked). And then there's a couple at the bottom where I have zero fucking idea.

The Origins of Dwarven Provings [Theory] - 0 views

  •
Dwarven Provings are an ancient tradition where champions battle one another for the right to claim they have the favor of the Ancestors. Proving matches themselves are limited to those of caste (DA:O Casteless Dwarf Origin), but anyone with a Caste CAN participate and challenge anyone else to a Proving in order to reclaim their honor and settle disputes, from the highest lords to the lowest servants (Codex: The Provings). The tradition itself dates back to before Orzammar, when the Grand Provings were held in Kal-Sharok (WOT 1, pg 20). Both Orzammar, and Gundaar (Codex: Beregrand the Bold) featured their own proving grounds, and given Kal-Sharok, Gundaar, and Orzammar make up three of the four largest kingdoms (WOT 1, pg 35), it's reasonable to expect that Hormak probably did too, not to mention the remaining twelve great kingdoms (DA:O Load Screen).

Petrine's Black City, Black Divine: A Study of the Tevinter Imperium - 0 views

Black City, Black Divine: A Study of the Tevinter Imperium by Sister Petrine for inclusion in the HigheverRains' Thedosian Archives. Publication Date: prior to 9:31 Dragon, date unknown. Book Description: Petrine provides an sometimes scathing account of the Tevinter Imperium's history, political structure, and system of slavery. Also includes a passage on Ritual Towers from Petrine's Empire and Imperium and a passage on the Magisterium from Petrine's The Ancient North added by archivist.

Canonical Foods of Thedas - 0 views

  •
I've seen one or two (really good) posts about Thedosian cuisine, but I haven't seen a compilation of canonical foods/drinks to date. So I've made one. Obviously this isn't only what's available to eat in Thedas. This is just a list of things that have been mentioned in canon. This could also helpful for breaking down the ingredients for other foods! Sources included at the end of the post! I will try to update it as I stumble upon more, but I'm calling it extensive enough to post now. :P

Dwarven Thaigs - Part 3: Aeducan Thaig and the Edge of the Modern Kingdom - 0 views

  •
Aeducan Thaig is among the more recent, dating to the lull in the Darkspawn caused by the invention of Caridin's Legion of Steel. It appears, for the most part, small and it has been lost again to the Darkspawn over the years (WOT 2pg. 174), and was sealed when they overran the thaig (A Tale of Orzammar DLC), with the latest excursions into the thaig only as a result of the Fifth Blight driving back the horde from its caverns (DAO: Noble Dwarf Origin; Paragon of Her Kind). It appears that Aeducan Thaig's primary purpose, as with many thaigs, was to serve as the final resting place of its founding Paragon, and possibly his shield. This however remains in question and likely is untrue due to machinations of Bhelen Aeducan in the Noble Dwarf Origin of Dragon Age Origins. In the Bioware created downloadable content A Tale of Orzammar, the player is a hapless adventurer who is paid by Bhelen to carve their way into the thaig in order to plant the shield in the first place (A Tale of Orzammar DLC). Its doors are locked save by the use of the Aeducan signet rings, and its structures are derelict. The thaig itself is long since plundered of any distinctive treasures, but there is more to Aeducan Thaig than meets the eye.

so, like... dwarves. they were originally some Titan hivemind-y minion-y shit. Mythal separated them from the Stone--how benevolent those reasons were or weren't, welp, debatable. but yeah she basically un-hiveminded them. (almost certainly why certain ancient-ass dwarves revered her!) meanwhile... red lyrium is very probably the original source of the taint, pre-dating the Magisters Sidereal and their dumbfuckery. this is even less explicit than Mythal and the dwarves, but it's pretty supportable from the codices and quests. like, the dwarves believe 'the Stone bears a corruption as old as balance' and the Dalish legends get at this too--and we know that lyrium is Titan's blood, and the difference between a Titan and the earth itself is not... particularly easily discerned. so, yeah, red lyrium. probably the original source of the taint. the Magisters sidereal pulled some really stupid fucking shit and clearly made things *worse* but did not originate that shit, despite what the southern Chantry would have you believe. so here's me connecting those facts with the Architect 'awakening' darkspawn from mindless hivemind drones to thinking individuals... who no longer hear the 'song' of the Calling

Will only elves survive the fall of the veil? - 0 views

  •
rederiswrites: Okay I keep seeing posts that assume that only elves will survive the destruction of the Veil and I...don't see any support for that assumption? Timeline-wise (I checked with my timeline expert penbrydd ), dwarves existed for a long time before the Veil, and humans almost certainly were around in Thedas also.

The age of Warden Amell - 0 views

  •
So, it's implied in WoT2 that an Amell Warden is taken by the templars between 9:05 and 9:10. To quote the wiki: In the years after Leandra's leaving [9:05], several unfortunate events occurred within the Amell family, chief among them was when Revka's firstborn child was discovered to be a mage. Revka was seen sobbing in the streets, after the the Templars took away her child. After Revka's child was taken away, things only got worse for her and the Amell family. In the year 9:10 Dragon, Revka's aunt Bethann passed away after a second bout with cholera, the next year her uncle Aristide died of the same disease. Magic manifests, generally, between the ages of 6 and 12, which are the outer limits we see in canon. Which would make them about Hawke's age, and probably older.

Thedosian Calendar and rough modern equivalents - 2 views

Thedosian Calendar and rough modern equivalents Alright so further adventures in Red Is a Giant Nerd who cannot leave well enough alone, I wanted to incorporate the seasons/months/holidays into my story. There are twelve 30-day months, so, simple, right? BUT! There were issues. Of course.

Birthdays in Thedas - 0 views

  •
So I got deep into thinking about birthdays in Thedas, after a delightful little fluff headcanon jumped into my head and refused to let me pay attention to anything other than that. There are only TWO confirmed companion birth years.
  •
More of these are solid since WoT2 came out, so I do still advise checking the wiki, but this is close enough to get a general idea of how old people are.

An Illustrated Timeline of Thedosian History - 1 views

  •
The timeline goes from the founding of Arlathan to 9:42 Dragon, which is like 8500 years, and there are something like 330 events, at this time. The load time can be considerable on slower systems, and I'm going to advise against loading this thing on a mobile device.

Matching up the timelines for Awakening and DA2 - 0 views

  •
The Awakening-to-DA2 timeline doesn't make a huge amount of sense, no. Awakening does take less than a year (it's only about six months, apparently) but the maths still doesn't work out. And it's all the fault of Seneschal Varel.
