Digital Civilization

Here is a link to that Trillions video about the future of computing.  Its really interesting to think of not only the amount of digital interfaces, but the new ways in which they will interact with us.

The American Practical Navigator Great stuff, if you've ever had an inkling of an interest in sailing, oceans, weather, etc! Read the Juvinile Fiction book, "Carry On, Mr. Bowditch" to understand what this is all about - an old neighbor (a Navy Submariner) told me that this book is part of the standard library on every Navy vessel! VERY interesting browsing, this!

I'm not sure that this is how most people use tumblr, but it occured to me that searching for images through a blogging service where people are handpicking these images may be a better system. How many of us have looked something up through google images with sheer frustration at the lack of variety of images? Maybe I'm the only one. All I'm saying is that you should try opening up tumblr, plugging in a word like "mountains" or something and see what rolls out. Keep in mind that an extract of the blogger's text entry is displayed with the image, so it is not a legitimate "image search." But I really feel that this way of people deciding what images should be showing up is a great one. That is all. Also--Don't get too distracted by the huge sign up form in the middle of the page.

Good Curriculum document on an AP class about the Romantic Era. Includes some great Romantic Poems like "The Lamb" and "The Tyger" by William Blake.

It's crazy how much the internet has influenced education. It is changing the way we learn. Who knows how far it will go.

I never knew that Second Life was being used to this extent. People are using it for educational and occupational purposes. It is quite amazing, but I wonder if we lose a sense of reality, or gain something more from it?

I believe this ties in well with our discussion of epistemology as well as our assignment right now.
