Know your rights: Disability discrimination | Australian Human Rights Commission - 0 views

  •
Those with disabilities need extra care and attention at times while some do not. No matter the case, everyone should be kind and understanding to those with disabilities. However, many disabled peoples are discriminated against all the time.
  •
Totally agree with you that people should be kind to those with disabilities. Many people that don't have a physical disability that can be seen are often discriminated against. I see people with support pets get discriminated against often and many people don't know their rights. Thanks for providing the site!

  •
This article discusses how, even though the Chinese government made positive steps towards addressing the rights of the disabled, it did little to quell discrimination. The Chinese government ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, but the disabled still greatly face discrimination, especially on the grounds of employment.

Children with Disabilities Face Discrimination - 0 views

  •
Children with special needs or a disability have the right to an education and to go to school. In this article, it goes over that in New Orleans, families with children that have a disability are facing a huge problem. Schools are rejecting these students, which is discrimination. The schools that they are sending the children to aren't equipped to teach most of these children, either.

I know in Peoria, AZ a lot of high schools such as Liberty and Sunrise Mountain have special education classrooms for students with disabilities so that they are able to learn at their own pace while still taking in useful information and progressing throughout their years of schooling. I feel as if every school should have programs for these students. Just because they don't learn at the same pace as others, does not mean they should not be able to get an education.

This is so true and sad. I have a friend who has bad PTSD and they treat it as a joke at his workplace. Mental illness is so prevalent and even now we are finding out so much about it and just how many people are affected by it.
  •
I do have a problem with this because I have Asperger Syndrome. I do hear of some getting fired just because of their disability. I would never want to get fired because of a disability. If they did that to me, I'm hiring a lawyer. I'm sure that I'd win the case because they would find it as discrimination.

People with mental illnesses should not be treated differently, they did not ask to be born with an illness it just happens. Humans should be look for more ways to help people then discriminate them. It saddens me that mental illnesses seem to be frowned upon more then saying you have been to jail.

China: End Discrimination, Exclusion of Children With Disabilities - 0 views

  •
Children with special needs in China are discriminated against while trying to get an education. These children with learning disabilities are not accommodated while trying to join their peers that may not have any disability, in school. Families are forced to send their children away to schools that are separated from the rest of the public.

Age Discrimination Still Thrives in America - 0 views

  •
Age is a huge factor when it comes to getting a job in the United States. Although there are laws in place to prevent it, age discrimination still occurs and is a known issue. Those over 50 years old struggle to find a job that would accept them into the workforce as they are seen 'unworkable'. Its studied that those who stay busier at that age have better and improved health and with those that do not develop disabilities earlier on.

Banning Muslims won't stop terrorism threats - 2 views

  •
Trump bans Muslim targeted countries. Did he ban the wrong countries? Most of the terrorist attacks that have happened here in America have been done by born U.S. citizens
  •
I think this article is not very scholarly, but they made good points about the origins of some of these terrorists.
  •
According to Benjamin Franklin, Those who surrender freedom for security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one." Secondly, it is illegal to discriminate on the basis of race, color, origin, gender, disability, sexual orientation, etc.

A Fordham University student's (name withheld) request to allow a service dog was denied. She suffers from Ankylosing Spondybarthrisis (AS). It caused her body to be "inflamed and painful." Denying her rights violates Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. She was offered $5000 by the college but refused to accept it because she feels like the college is paying her to keep quiet.
