The Wall and US economic impact - 0 views

  •
This web site shows the negative impact on building a border wall with Mexico. It shows the numbers of US workers and Mexican workers affected by this decision. It shows how much capitol could be lost each day once the wall is built.
  •
Great find! I think that there is no real thought being put into the whole wall situation. Both the U.S. and Mexico have benefited from the ability to import and export goods providing jobs for both sides. The relationship that our current president is establishing will definitely impact our economy in a negative way.
  •
Excellent article! I agree with dennibro about the thought process behind it. First they were going to pay for it, now we are. Then the whole subject of who was going to be paying for this wall started to be backtracked. I think not only is it going to cost an astronomical amount of money to build, it will also cost us a lot to maintain it. I think a better idea is needed.

The Real Cost of Mr. Trump's Wall - 3 views

  •
A current topic since Trumps's campaign for presidency, and specifically right now with President Trump's inauguration last week, this article talks about the cost's of building a wall along the U.S./Mexico border, which would be roughly 2,000 miles in length. Trump made this promise throughout his campaign and seems to be focused on taking the steps towards this within the last week. This article talks about the cost's of building such a wall. I found it very interesting how they add up.
  •
I hope Trump has a large piggy-bank because I don't see where this money will come from. His presidency isn't going to be easy for him if this is how he wishes to start. We are in an age of equality and fairness. More seed opposed than for it.
  •
I agree with Hailey hopefully our president has a saving account because I don't think that Mexico will pay the way for him. In my opinion Donald Trump is going to gain enemies from all over the world because he is not treating everybody the same.

PROTECTING YOUR PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS - 0 views

  •
court ruling expanded the ability of state and local governments to exercise eminent domain powers to seize private property under the guise of "economic development" when the "public use" is something as non-public as a new housing development or shopping center that would generate more tax revenues even in situations where the government takes property from one private individual and gives it to another private entity. cities may now take private residencies to build shopping centers and malls.

20 Life Skills Not Taught In School. - 1 views

  •
I found this article to be my favorite, in the article it lists 20 life skills not taught in school, from communication and thinking to learning how to build credit and get insurance. This made me really think how I didn't learn any of those skills that I use everyday now when I was in school. It even talks about how the bible, cooking, guns, and finding a job all play a big part in adult life.

Wow, great find! I have three children and my husband and I are always trying to teach them just about everything listed in this article. Years ago many of those things were taught in some degree. Now it seems like they don't touch much on these at all. I know there are classes when you are older you can go too, but I think all of these subject could be taught to some degree in the classroom setting. I also think that if they were maybe our economy would be better, because our future adult citizens (kids in school) will have a better understanding of what it takes and how to get a head to be a responsible citizen.
  •
Thanks for sharing this, you're right this is a great article! There are so many skills that the public education system is not teaching, yet they are super important and critical for everyone to acquire.
  •
I think this article is really cool. It shows really important skills that aren't taught in school that you don't even realize till you actually think about it. Many day to day things aren't taught in school but things that we will never use are taught.

Refugees | USCIS - 1 views

A clear look into what it takes to be considered a refugee, and educating on what it takes to apply for refugee status. Opens a platform of discussion into refugee reform.

Do you believe that it takes a specific criteria in order to be a refugee? And what are your views on this if a specific criteria isn't met?
  •
I know we should be helping each other out but accepting a lot of refugees all at a time will cause a lot of potential problems. Not that I do not think humanity plays a big role in this but social and educational issues are what we should be also considering. Can we promise to afford them their living standard? Can we provide each of them with a decent job while the people in the country itself are still unemployed?
  •
I think that is a great question. Studies show that children or youth refugees are woefully unsuccessful unless their parents are gainfully employed, educated, and many other incredulous factors. Allowing refugees into the country is a completely separate topic than building an entire social infrastructure funded by American taxpayer funds. In order for these refugees to be successful the government is spending millions of dollars per family, and tens of millions per family unit after five years of residence. I am of the opinion we need a complete overhaul of the existing system. I can simply not encourage immigrants to come to my homeland when my kinsmen are dying at astonishing rates at the hands of mental disorders, suicide, poverty, and a host of other contributors. We could be investing those funds into saving Americans, not providing for foreigners.

Marijuana Legalization | Honestmarijuana.com - 2 views

  •
There are many reasons, good and bad as to why legalizing marijuana. Potentially dismantling of The Black Market. But can cause many issues within our country.
  •
At first I was skeptical as this website is titled "Honest Marijuana," meaning it is dedicated to the idea of marijuana and may be biased. After further reading the page, I saw that the name is true: It is really honest on BOTH sides. It involves both the pros and the cons, and can help people build an argument on whether it would be better to be legalized or not.

Should We Have The Death Penalty - ProCon.org - 3 views

  •
This site gives 10 arguments on the same subject. It lets us see both sides of the argument. It gives real life examples about the topic as well.
  •
This is an excellent resource and covering both sides of the topic in a way that does not have me feel as though there is an agenda one way or another.
  •
I think this is a great resource for building your own argument or feeling on the death penalty as it gives examples of both sides and thoughts in each particular area. Instead of giving only one side of the thought, it gives the two (pros and cons) and thus makes it unbiased.

Should men get paternity leave from work? - 2 views

  •
Do you believe men should get paternity leave from work? This site provides both sides to whether fathers should get time off of work to help raise and care for their children or not. Comment below your thoughts!

  •
I noticed that some of the arguments against men getting paternity leave are that the women do all of the work, so the men do not deserve it. I think this is a foolish argument because it is contradicting. If the mom does all of the hard work, why not give the father paternity leave in order to help her with the baby? The father cannot do anything about the growing baby in her stomach and all of the side effects that come with it, however, he can help feed the baby, change the baby, and put the child to sleep. It is not a vacation, it is time given to spend with their newborn child and assist in one of the most difficult phases of being a parent.
  •
I fully support this debate. Men should be afforded the right to be a parent just as much as a mother is.
  •
I agree, men should be able to get time off from work so they can also spend time with their new baby!
  •
I had a conversation with a coworker recently. We didn't understand why men are not offered Paternity leave at several companies including the one I work for. I believe that men need the time to bond with their children just as much as the mother does.
  •
I would have loved it if my husband could have taken time off from work when my children were born. Things aren't as clearly defined as they used to be. There aren't mens jobs and womens jobs. My husband helped me with all of my children, as well as working a full time job. It's up to each family to decide what works for them. We have stay at home dads now and moms who work and everything in between.
  •
This is an interesting topic, that I haven't herd before. It should be up to the man. although the women are the ones who are actually pregnant...
  •
I would have loved if my husband could have had paternity leave from work when I had my children. It also depends on the circumstances in the family household. Can they afford for both to be on leave?
  •
This website is a debating website that states a question and shows you people's responses from both sides (yes or no.) It doesn't necessarily hold factual information from one person, but can give insightful opinions or facts from a lot of people to help build your own argument.

Why Isn't Pornography Addiction An Official Diagnosis? - 1 views

  •
This article explains why there isn't an official diagnosis for porn addicts. because of lack of research they can't provide. Porn kills love shows why there should be a diagnosis.
  •
I completely agree that pornography is one of the most addicting drugs in today's world. It is destroying families and people's ability to love and build relationships with other people. If we are able to diagnose it, we better find how we can stop it.

The Shockingly Simple, Surprisingly Cost-Effective Way to End Homelessness | Mother Jones - 2 views

  •
Homelessness seems to be a never ending problem in the United States and there does not seem to be a solution. Some states like Utah are working towards finding a solution and helping the homeless in their state. They have a program in effect called Housing First that finds and build apartments at no cost to the homeless individual. They also work on helping them get the medical care and provisions needed to help them until they can survive on their own even if it takes some time.
  •
The homeless is always the problem of US, I can see there are many homeless on the way i go to school. This is an very nice topic to discuss, I love to know more about his topic. Thus, I can give a helping hand for who in need.
