Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal filed a lawsuit in federal court last month against the Obama administration over its use of federal funding and waivers from No Child Left Behind (NCLB) to encourage states to adopt Common Core national standards and tests. Those in opposition to Common Core feel that the standards in place under Common Core could possibly result in standardizing weakness instead of reinforcing standards of excellence. The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) has not been reauthorized since the passing of NCLB. The Law is under construction so it can be reauthorized.
