In 2009, at the behest of the Obama administration, the United States joined 152 other countries in endorsing a U.N. Arms Trade Treaty Resolution. The resolution establishes an international conference to be held next year, at which leaders from countries around the world-many of which have deplorable human rights records-will draw up an international treaty designed to severely restrict or even outright ban your right to sell, purchase, carry or own a firearm. Just two years ago, NRA fought a push to consider a 1997 Organization of American States gun control treaty in the Senate.

Antigay forces launch new international hate group - 1 views

  •
Brian Brown of the National Organization for Marriage launches a new anti-LGBTQ group, the International Organization for the Family. He believes in "pro-family" and "defies the LGBT culture". Should marriage only be between a man and a women?
  •
This is extremely sad to see but not surprising. Homophobia is still around and these people are hateful. The hope is hat they don't manage to get any laws past that might hurt LGBT people. The supreme court ruled that for marriage equality.
  •
I agree, this is truly a sad state of affairs, but in the current political climate not at all surprising.

Addressing the Global Refugee Crisis - 0 views

  •
Amanda B. Clinton wrote an article talking about the crisis refugees are facing with psychological health. She stated that the APA Office of International Affairs hosted a program called the International Learning Partner Program in Kosovo. 10 U.S. based psychologists who joined the program in Kosovo allowed people like Ilir, an expert in Balkan culture, who had no choice but to flee his country.According to United Nations High Commissions on Refugees every 20 minutes people leave everything behind in order to escape the terror of war and persecution. Okazaki, Haarlammert, Guler and Liu (2019), indicated that psychology has never been more important than it is today. With the strong leadership in the APA evidence on the recognition of the refugees rights has increasingly gotten a lot better.

  •
This website covers some of the 10 reasons that the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women International thinks of why prostitution should not be legalized. Some of the reasons they provide and argue for is that the legalization would promote sex trafficking. They also argue that it would expand the industry instead of controlling the industry of prostitutes.

I totally agree with this topic, and article. I find it very disturbing to see people sell their bodies, or even "pimps" selling our for their own profit.

I think the president is a social just issue on his own. the more I read on what he is doing the more I can't believe that he was elected. All your articles that you have found provide great information that I was completely unaware of, this being one of them.
  •

Diplomatic Immunity and its Truth - 2 views

  •
When I first heard the definition of this international law I was shocked to say the least. The definition states that foreign government officials are above judges and officers. With deeper research I learned there's more to the story.
  •
I had never heard of Diplomatic Immunity until now. Thank you for sharing! I, as well, found it to be very surprising that foreign diplomats are, to some extent, "above the law."
  •
Wow, it never occurred to me that such a thing like Diplomatic Immunity exists. This article is definitely eye-opening and helped me gain a better understanding if what it means. Had you not provided this information, I may have never known about it.

Security and Human Rights - 1 views

  •
The Amnesty International suggests that America should treat human rights respectfully in any movements they make in the reputation of countering terrorism or national security. On the downside, America's political authorities are creating an anti-human rights motive when bringing about counter-terrorism, lethal force, surveillance, Guantanamo, and freedom of expression.
  •
No secret that a lot of human rights get violated in the name of National Security. But hard to stop this kind of stuff because it all happens so secretly. By the time we find out its been happening for years.

What is Happening to Females in Afghanistan? - 2 views

  •
The IRC (International Rescue Committee) is seriously concerned about females rights in Afghanistan. Females should be able to work, go to school, and move freely. As of August 2021, the response plan funding for women and girls has drastically diminished making them more prone to violence, child labor, and forced marriages. Since international support has slowly been fading away, almost 1 million children will miss out on education.
  •
Despite the article referring to women and young girls distinctly why choose to rename your bookmark and pointedly refer to them as females rather than as the article intends? Your article covers rather dehumanizing issues so it strikes me as odd that out of all this your choice was to choose a word you could apply to any non human mammal rather than the women of Afghanistan. Did you not think that the article used the language "women and girls" for the reason of both humanization and to clarify that perhaps the rights of a female mammal weren't at stake here but the human population that happens to be female?
