TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. On TED.com, we make the best talks from TED available to the world, for free. More than 700 TEDTalks are now available, with more added each week. These videos are released under a Creative Commons license, so they can be freely shared and reposted.

Read Print is a free service providing access to more than 8,000 free books and essays written by more than 3,500 authors. The titles available through Read Print are generally works that are in the public domain or have Creative Commons licensing. The collection of works contains many of the classics in fiction and non-fiction literature. In addition to books, poems, and essays you can also find plays on Read Print. You can search by author, title, or quotation for titles on Read Print. As of August 2011 Academic Skill Builders has released 40 web-based learning games designed to help K-8 students build basic math, olanguage arts, vocabulary, and thinking skills. The games incorporate multiplayer capabilities in educational gaming. Studetns can play together in groups of 4, 8, or 12 at a time, promoting positive interaction and achievement. Educators can use the free arcade-like games with a projector screen, interactive whiteboard, or computer lab. Security safeguards ensure that no one outside the classroom can contact students who are playing the games. The games align with state standards and the Common Core Standards.

Sharing this again as there have been some additions to that that I think will be very helpful for teachers grades K-8.

The National Science Digital L ibrary is the nation's online libdrary for education and research in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It provides free math lessons and activities aligned with the Math Common Core Standards, as well as STEM-related blogs and other free teacher resources and lesson plan ideas. Targeted for K-12 teachers, higher-education professionals, and librarians, NSDL also provides science literay maps and ITunes multimedia files.

Teacher's Domain offers free digital media from public TV broadcasters for educational use. Users can search for materials via individual state standards, Common c ore State Standards, or national standards from different organizations. Website users can create onlin eprofiles in order to share the resources they have learned for a particular lesson with others.

Braingle hosts more than 20,000 brain teasers, trivia quizzes, games, and mentalrobics (aerobics for the brain). The games section is comprised of popular games like chess, checkers, sudoku, and common word games. The Mentalrobics section of Braingle is what makes it worth mentioning. Mentalrobics includes memory tests, flashcards, and vocabulary building activities. The vocabulary builder activities require users to register for a free Braingle account. To help users practice more effectively the Braingle vocabulary builder tracks the words users know and the ones they don't.

Interesting Ways includes ideas for using Google Tools, including forms, docs, earth, searching, and maps. It also includes information on ipads in the classroom, IWB, Ipod touch, class blog posts, mobile phones, audio, video camera, QR codes, reading, creative commons, writing, internet safety gaming, wordle, twitter, voicethread, prezi, moodle search engines, wallwisher and wikis.
