Questionnaire Design - 0 views

  •
Questionnaires are an inexpensive way to gather data from a potentially large number of respondents. Often they are the only feasible way to reach a number of reviewers large enough to allow statistically analysis of the results. A well-designed questionnaire that is used effectively can gather information on both the overall performance of the test system as well as information on specific components of the system. If the questionnaire includes demographic questions on the participants, they can be used to correlate performance and satisfaction with the test system among different groups of users.

WatchKnow - 1 views

  •
Imagine collecting all the best free educational videos made for children, and making them findable and watchable on one website. Then imagine creating many, many more such videos. Just think: hundreds of thousands of great short videos, and other media, explaining every topic taught in schools, in every major language on Earth. Finally, imagine them all deeply and usefully categorized according to subject, education level, and placed in the order in which topics are typically taught. WatchKnow--as in, "You watch, you know"--is trying to do this.

Social Bookmarking in Education - 15 views

  •
Many educators just use the favorites menu on their computer either at work or home. But what about when we're at home and need to get to a site we saved at school? This is where social bookmarking comes in! Bookmarking favorite links on the internet is something that can make life easier for us as educators - it means that it's easy to find a really neat site later when looking for it. Putting SOCIAL in Bookmarking The social part of social bookmarking works like this: you can share your links that you've saved through a service like Diigo with anyone else who uses Diigo. You can also use Diigo to see the interesting links that your friends and other people bookmark - this can be extremely useful for a team of teachers who like to share teaching resources. You can even search Diigo to find the many bookmarks that others have saved - it helps sort out the good sites, which is hard to do on most search engines. If a lot of other teachers have saved a link, you know it's at least popular. This article also addresses "What is tagging?" and "How do I use tags?"

Cloud Hosting - Bitnami - 11 views

  •
Bitnami offers a lot of useful applications that can be run from the cloud (with a subscription) or on a VirtualBox on your computer for free. I especially like this site because it has virtualized version of Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Moodle and Canvas, and Content Management Systems (CMS) like Drupal and Joomla that you can set up to play with before deciding on which to use.

From the Desk of David Pogue - Amazon's E-Book Service - NYTimes.com - 1 views

  •
What makes the Kindle successful is the effortlessness of it. One-click book buying. Forty-five-secOnd book downloading. One-click book reading. AmazOn tore down every last barrier, minimizing the number of steps at every turn. The cOnvenience is amazing. So if they're going to bring those e-books to the iPhOne, it had better be darned simple. And, sure enough, it is.

2 | When The Internet Is Your Brain: - 8 views

  •
In H+: The Digital Series, a post-apocalyptic techno-thriller that debuts today from producer Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects, X2, House), a consumer device that allows people to stay connected 24-hours a day directly results in the demise of one-third of the Earth's population. That's a scary vision for any epoch, but perhaps especially one currently salivating at the prospect of new iThings. The culprit in H+, which is shorthand for a real-world movement called transhumanism, is a wonder chip that we implant in our brains, thereby eliminating the need to hunch over physical electronics forever. But the price paid for this technological leap is a steep--when a global virus strikes the implants, the system failure is fatal.
