Just as people said in the previous comments, I don't think its all about validity and content . You have to some amount of persuasion to get your point across. You have to make sure that validity and content balances out with persuasion. Persuasion is what's key to making your point valid. However presentation is the core to your persuasion. A good presentation is what gets your audience interested inyour argument.
I also agree with Josh. In politics they are so busy trying to debate against one another and put each other down nothing ever gets accomplished. so i feel like if they just focus on making a mutual compromise things will get done a lot more efficiently .
When it comes to the "rustle in the grass" example i believe that it is best to assume that it is a predator rather than the wind . Its the matter of life or death so its best to be on your toes and be extra cautious. Just like in public policy, the whole situation with 9/11 , just because of that horrendous tragedy our country has been extra cautious on everything , because it was so unexpected we dont know when something like that will ever occur again so the best thing to do is stay extra cautious.
I agree that money is important for development because money opens oppurtunities for other things to developed .Everything is all connected within each other . Like Felecia said human rights is not possible without freedom and not possible without money. Money may not be the most important thing for developing a country but it is a great factor for it.
I believe there are groups and organizations in America that help "save" Africa through good hearted nature, who actually care and have great interest in helping out countries that are less fortunate. However, the majority of those who help aid Africa are only doing for a boost in their image. You don't hear much about the organizations that are doing it out of good deed but on very cover of a magazine you read about some celebrity adopting a child from Africa or a third world country and about them giving x amount of dollars away . Celebrities treat it as a fad to give off the image that they are generous people and …When in turn they are using their presence in Africa as publicity exposure to receive a better recognition .
The problem with this topic is that people generalize Africa as a country and not a continent. Africa is made up of many different countries and not all of them are suffering from poverty. People quickly assume that all parts of Africa are poor because of what we Americans portray it to be. Africa receives the image of being the poor and I don't think that's what they truly want to be referred by. But yes there are parts of Africa that are less fortunate than others and need some help. We use helping out Africa as a publicity exposure rather than through generosity and being charismatic.
Simon Lovell has different framing techniques on which he uses on different victims. He has a multiple amount of frames because some may not work on certain ones. Simon needs framing techniques so he can convince the victim to believe in his scam. Without framing techniques he would be able to complete his task successfully. These techniques are very similar to what they use in commercials on TV. In commercials they use these techniques to convince viewers that they need to buy their product or visit their company. They make you feel obligated to go or to have whatever they are advertising. They lure you in with great deals and create jingles that are constantly on your mind.
Reading this article about the conditions in Niger makes me realize how blessed and fortunate we are here in the U.S. to have so many medical facilities and assistants to help and take of us in times of need. Just like it was mentioned in the article it seems like Niger was back in the middle ages where none of the resources we have today were available.
Freedom is every man's dream..For the longest freedom has praised by everyone who became a heroic figure . But the definition of freedom changes from person to person. Freedom can be happiness to one and it can mean to have the freedom of expression to another . Freedom is a word that portrays to a broad topic. In the article Isaiah Berlin says that…" it is a term whose meaning is so porous that there is little interpretation that it seems able to resist."
