i dont think we shoudl abandon trying to make decision sometimes government, politicians and the polis need to act and make a choice in order to get anything done or make things better however these choices are not black and white there is some truth and some untruth about almost everything whether it be policy or a candidates position or campaigne nothing is hard cut and honest but that doesnt mean we cannot make the best educated decisions just like sstudents do when taking a test. you make an educated guess, not saying we should guess what to do but we shouldnt give up all together. people or politicians however may in a sense "con" people to believe their side or their opinion is truth. to make things black and white in a grey world takes some manipulation and conning

in relation to our own economy and modern society we have to be relentless and active and we cannot simply stand back and let things blow over or ignore problems or strict situations such as our economic issues or previous issues on war and terrorism, certian situations call for an active and relentless point of view, however this aggressive tactic shouldnt not be used on a constant basis and we should definitely take a step back and let things unfold and blow over jst as Jay-z did with other rappers that are "hating"

this line about power growing as well as the enemies list got me to thinking, when your power and influence get stronger and expand does that automatically cause you to gain a longer list of enemies and "haters" and do the enemies have reason other than jealousy for this animosity. is it really Jay-Z's fault that he is a powerful respected man?

i am confused myself on why these twons were different than other unfortunate neighborhoods with school and crime issues. i decided it was the passion of the citizins of this town that took it to another level and could make the change that they wanted in order to benefit everyone.

considering they have such a low income and it is even lower than what their cost of healthcare is how is it that they even get this healthcare. i understand medicare takes care of it but how does that add up correctly. when they spend 3000 dollars more than the person earns to get them good healthcare. does expensive always mean good?

Edge: A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE By Steven Pinker - 4 views

  • The decline of violence is a fractal phenomenon, visible at the scale of millennia, centuries, decades, and years. It applies over several orders of magnitude of violence, from genocide to war to rioting to homicide to the treatment of children and animals.

not only is there different terms of violence but there is different terms of evolution to becomiing a society that views violence differently and for the better. that process takes time.

in my english class as well we discussed how humans naturally make patterns to make stuff more simple and nderstand it more even if there is no pattern or relation. its called paradolia and we do it to simplify everything then make and find meaning in it. its a natural response and is seen as beneficial sometimes in order to understand things but can distort reality to make it understandable

when it comes to the "rustle in the grass" example do you believe that we should assume the rustle is a dangerous predator or just the wind? In other words is it beneficial to be extra cautious and make an "incorrect causal story"? how are we caustious in Public policy and what causal stories do we create to rationalize our decisions in the way we view policy?

i would agree that money is the least imortant goal for the dimensions of development because as a country you do not need money to become developed, in the long term money will become more and more of an importance but as a goal you do not need money to beecome a developed country. the problem with money being a means and whether or not a country is developed if they are poor but have culture and human rights is that many poor countries do not have many freedoms and are lacking in the human rights department, as well as in the freedom to express the culture they come from. many poor countries have litttle to no human rights, whether it is directly afffected by money or not is something i would like to look up. i agree with his assertions that human rights are extremely important to becoming a developed country, how can you develop with no freedoms? and having a rich and growing culture is important to the people and affects the countries development. so i agree.

i would say yes, with every con or manipulation the con artist, depending on the audience, will use a certain frame to draw that particular "buyer" in. they will either frame the product to the consumer or they will convince the consumer that they need the product. either way the manipulation and framing is there otherwise the audience wouldnt be as easily convinced, in relation to the public sphere all i can think about is infomercials. typically the spokes person is the manipulator/con artist and the viewers are the victims. the spokes person will frame the situation to convince the consumer that it is necessary to have the item thus conning them, thats in a consumer model. in political framing politicians con, for lack of a better word, voters into thinking they are the only candidate that can fulfill what the public "needs". and when it comes to passing bills society frames them around what people want to hear and manipulate it so voters see something they agree with and arent educated on other reprocussions of that bill. Manipulation and framing techniques can be seen everywhere!!

this made me laugh out loud. the fact that people, because of their own ignorance, laugh at those who getted tricked and conned and think they are in on the whole scheme when in reality they are just as ignorant if not more ignorant because they are so diluted with the idea that they arent among the the tricked.in turn it seems that they are actually conning themselves into thinking they are in on it all.

the things that we study and experiment are things we are most passionate about and the things that are most popular in society, since this was not an extremely detrimental study to society it died out and wasnt funded does that make it any less important. i feel bad that they loss funding.

on the lighter side of things this chocolate and mug experiment shows that no matter what the object is there can always be a certain sentiment about an object where you will hold on to something you dont need rather than trade if for something more useful. personal i would take the chocolate.but i guess that depends on where i got the mug and what is said.

is this saying that the players would completely forget about the ethical thing to do which is maximize loong term gain and go for short term interests if the "game" has an issue like a player being fined? if there is a consequence do people try to cheat their way out by just getting short term gain and be done with it? do they think they are benefitting??

though our country was based on freedom and equality this was set forth by white male protestant land owners. there can be a mutual respect when everyone can be objective about our country's greater good and what we need to do to accomplish that. but until then the reciprocity with batttle with the judgments of religion
