About EPI. The Economic Policy Institute (EPI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank created in 1986 to include the needs of low- and middle-income workers in economic policy discussions. EPI believes every working person deserves a good job with fair pay, affordable health care, and retirement security. The Roadmap looks ahead; it is a multiyear agenda that ensures a robust pipeline of research for years to come, not only through research opportunities we highlight for Congress in our annual budget request, but also through efforts HUD launches in-house and with other external partners in the research community.

Working Groups: Opportunities: Ostrom Workshop: Indiana University Bloomington - 4 views

  •
"For many years, the Workshop has facilitated the establishment of self-organized working groups. Topics covered vary from year to year. Most groups are mechanisms enabling people who share common interests to discuss their current research and benefit from each other's commentary and criticism. Some groups are focused around a particular research question and have resulted in a published paper, a research design, a research proposal or some other joint product. "

CEPR / LSE IGA / SPP Webinar Series | Centre for Economic Policy Research - 2 views

  •
CEPR is based on what was (in 1983) a new model of organization, a "thinknet". It is a distributed network of economists, who are affiliated with but not employed by CEPR, and who collaborate through the Centre on a wide range of policy-related research projects and dissemination activities. CEPR was founded at a time when European economics had relatively few "centres of excellence" with international reach but many excellent researchers, widely dispersed, with few opportunities for interaction. One of CEPR's main achievements has been to create a virtual "centre of excellence" for European economics through an active community of dispersed individual researchers, working together across international boundaries to produce high-quality research for use by the policy community and the private sector.

The Day-One Democracy Agenda - 1 views

  •
"We'll take the White House. We'll take the Senate. Then, we'll enact a bold, day-one democracy agenda to ensure our country works for everyone, not just a powerful few. The only way we get there is if 2020 presidential candidates do three things:  1. Propose a bold democracy agenda; 2. Make democracy their top legislative priority; 3. Get real about how we get it done: ending the filibuster."

Calling Bullshit. - 0 views

  •
While bullshit may reach its apogee in the political domain, this is not a course on political bullshit. Instead, we will focus on bullshit that comes clad in the trappings of scholarly discourse. Traditionally, such highbrow nonsense has come couched in big words and fancy rhetoric, but more and more we see it presented instead in the guise of big data and fancy algorithms - and these quantitative, statistical, and computational forms of bullshit are those that we will be addressing in the present course.
