CEPR is based on what was (in 1983) a new model of organization, a "thinknet". It is a distributed network of economists, who are affiliated with but not employed by CEPR, and who collaborate through the Centre on a wide range of policy-related research projects and dissemination activities. CEPR was founded at a time when European economics had relatively few "centres of excellence" with international reach but many excellent researchers, widely dispersed, with few opportunities for interaction. One of CEPR's main achievements has been to create a virtual "centre of excellence" for European economics through an active community of dispersed individual researchers, working together across international boundaries to produce high-quality research for use by the policy community and the private sector.

CRESTING has recruited 15 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) to train in cutting edge systematic analysis of CE-related activity and initiatives in a range of geographic and economic settings. For over three decades, Balaton Group members have consistently advanced the boundaries of research and strategy for sustainable development. Collaboration among members has resulted in more than 30 books, over a hundred conferences, new learning centres and NGOs and uncounted computer models, training programmes, planning methods, journal articles, films, videos, policy initiatives, educational games, courses and research projects.

There is growing evidence showing that place impacts people's health on multiple scales. From obesity and chronic disease to depression, social isolation, and increased exposure to environmental toxins and pollutants, the world faces very different health challenges today than it has in the past, and many of these challenges are directly related to how our public spaces are designed and operated.

As both an overarching idea and a hands-on approach for improving a neighborhood, city, or region, Placemaking inspires people to collectively reimagine and reinvent public spaces as the heart of every community. Strengthening the connection between people and the places they share, Placemaking refers to a collaborative process by which we can shape our public realm in order to maximize shared value. More than just promoting better urban design, Placemaking facilitates creative patterns of use, paying particular attention to the physical, cultural, and social identities that define a place and support its ongoing evolution.

Google Refine is a power tool for working with messy data sets, including cleaning up inconsistencies, transforming them from one format into another, and extending them with new data from external web services or other databases. Version 2.0 introduces a new extensions architecture, a reconciliation framework for linking records to other databases (like Freebase), and a ton of new transformation commands and expressions.

HELP was commissioned by the Department of Health to show how community development (CD) can be harnessed in the NHS. It introduced a cost-benefit model for calculating the health and other benefits of community development

Community Builders, a project of the Sonoran Institute, aims to help local leaders build successful communities in the American West: communities with strong and diverse economies, quality growth, vibrant downtowns, and complete neighborhoods. These are communities that offer people more choices in where they live and how they get around. They provide a quality of life that attracts talent, and the businesses that seek it. These are places where people feel they belong to a community and have a shared commitment to its future.
